Timing hasn't helped his cause after the Sarah Everard murder, but then when you read that he's racist as well as sexist and you begin to build a picture that he's actually just a bit of a c**t.

It's not the first time he's let the veil slip and broadcast his abhorrent views:-

Ex-footballer makes 'racist' remarks at ball

Former international footballer David Speedie sparked outrage after using the terms "b******s" and "n*****s" at a charity function.

Former international footballer David Speedie sparked outrage after using the terms " b******s " and " n*****s " at a charity function.

The former Chelsea, Liverpool and Scotland international made the racist remarks just days after the fury surrounding England's ill-tempered clash with Spain which was marred by racist chanting aimed at England's black players.

Speedie started the evening by agreeing with comments made by shamed TV pundit Ron Atkinson.

Atkinson resigned earlier this year after calling former Chelsea star Marcel Desailly insulting racist names.

Speedie was speaking at a Darlington Supporters' Trust sportsman's dinner on Friday evening at a town hotel in aid of the Percy Hedley Foundation charity when he made his remarks.

He has lots of black friends though - this article sounds like its Roysten Vasey - did Kevan Smith play for us?

The problem is a lot of women are introduced into 'mens former world' for the sake of PR now its not doing them or anyone any favours if they are not good enough in the first place regardless of gender Phil Neville got roasted Michael Owens a boring c**t but nobodys allowed to say any women are shite because of political correctness these days .. now as far as I am concerned if they are good they get my vote if they are not they get a thumbs down. I don't particularly like referees because the vast majority are crap but I have to say I thought the Russian woman ref against Andorra was excellent

Again, individual women are being criticised all over this thread, I've done it.
Saying you don't like particular woman presenter isn't the same as making sweeping generalisations about all of them.

It’s incredible how people fail to grasp this.

That was it . Didn't you say he'd get 20+?

I gave my own bet with @cc84cov about Bright so this one’s nothing to do with me.

I said Walker’s stats suggest over a season he’s score I think 17. So far this season the same stat would give him 21, though he’s just scored so that’s a little inflated right now.

I think he’s the best finisher at the club, possibly level with Godden. But I think he needs to develop the rest of his game. Basically I think he’s a younger quicker version of Godden with slightly worse link up play. Whereas I think Waghorn is one of the best link up strikers but the worst finisher. Thank God for Got-It-All-Györkeres

Why? It’s in the Cambridge English dictionary - you are allowed to use it in a non-offensive way you know

The irony of you not understanding the difference 🤦🏼‍♂️

I personally don’t care who’s presenting I often watch games with commentary off it’s no big deal

Christ I think lee Hendrie is a decent pundit, I think Jamie mackie and Clinton Morrison are borderline retards,I think Merson has been nicking a living for years, I think bianca is brilliant most of the women presenting seem to know there stuff none of this is even worth talking about

cricket is a different story imo some off the female presenters on that are way out of their depth

it’s horse for courses, commentary in cricket is more important than in football

online forums and social media just causes trouble, debate/arguing with people you don’t know

what speedie said is his opinion, I don’t care what it is either way but I don’t care what it is I care that people have to challenge it

I'm not quite with you. Are you upset that Speedie (whom I loved as a player, still do), is challenged on a pretty daft statement?

That doesn't upset me, it reassures me. This sort of claptrap, much like racism, deserves to be called out. If it isn't challenged it just keeps going and then even more people begin to think it's somehow acceptable.

a stupid or mentally slow person:

Unless of course he was just suggesting that Clinton Morrison slows the pace of the programme

Can you imagine the amount of flak a woman would get if she had the forthright and controversial opinions that Keane etc had? They'd be told to get "back to the kitchen", "Classic woman, no idea what they are talking about" etc. The privilege of being a bloke allows us to state strong and divisive opinions without our gender being used as a source of credibility.
Think you underestimate women with these comments.
Listen to Hartley-Brewer in the mornings if you think women aren’t allowed to be controversial in the media.
