Its an old (but correct) cliche that as long as the spine of a team remains consistent, it keeps cohesion no matter who else you bring in. I would say as long as Wilson, Fadz, Hamer/Kelly and walker/gyo are up to speed come the start of the season, we will be ok

Moore will be number 1 and will be a solid number 1. Give him time before cutting him out after 3 games of pre season for crying out loud.

Could well be, but changing a keeper from one who played 30 odd games last season to one who's played 8 in 3 years is a risk

Waghorn and Györkeres look like an upgrade on last season, certainly what we had before Xmas.

Sheaf and Hamer will do well in the middle I think despite peoples (understandable) love affair with Kelly.

The back really worries me. We needed an upgrade at CB and GK last season to allow us to play a bit more open and a bit more attacking to utilise our forwards and midfield (particularly the wingbacks). I don’t think as it stands we’ve got it and we’ve lost Østigård.

It’s that important that I’d be very tempted to cash in on one of O’Hare and Hamer to fund it if we’re out of cash. A decent CM/AM is much easier to find in a Prem loan than a CB. And I think we need two minimum to get the back three up to scratch.

Our PPG without Kelly was below Wycombe’s so we definitely need a strong CM option there in his absence. I like Sheaf and Hamer individually but think they both need a good leader lining up next to them.

I’m liking our attacking options, the one area we’ve definitely improved on. Walker and Godden will get goals. Gyo look v good toward the end of the season and Waghorn adds experience and consistently scores 10 goals a season. All of them could realistically get 10 goals as consistent starters in a season.

It’s pretty clear we’re relying on loans to boost our defensive options, which is something we need to address next summer. We can’t afford to get it wrong with Maatsen (assuming it’s all but done) and this loanee CB we’re after.

As for Bright, a lot of people including myself have expressed my reservations at signing him. He’s a wild card who’ll either give us a bit of X-factor or bombed out the squad ASAP.

Robins has said this is ‘strangest transfer window I’ve known’ and I don’t think he will be the only manager to share that opinion.

The silver lining is that there are a good chunk of teams that are in a worse position than ourselves.

Agree on the forward line, that’s a decent 4 players for us.
It’s LB/LWB we obviously need and 1/2 CBs. He’s said he’s working on it.

I would keep both Hamer and O Hare instead of cashing in and loan the players we need for now.
We look healthy in the number 10 type role too with O Hare, Bright and Jones to come in.

Part me of feels we are short at the moment and part of me feels with a fully fit squad and some momentum along with an addition or two to the back line, we’ll be a surprise package next season.

Time will tell of course.

I’m very much in this camp…… I feel like we are in a better place than the start of last season. Forest aren’t making significant signings so they may not be that much different to last season….and a number of teams are in that position.

Don’t think we can rely on Jones too much at this stage, he’s not played regularly for a few years and above League 2 level. It’d be great to see him come through the season unscathed and then crack on from there.
That away game at Stevenage feels like a long time ago now!

Worst case I'd like to see 1 centre half, one left wing back and if we can 1 good head in the middle .

Taking away the middle man , 2 centre halves and a left wing back

I think that is a good call.

Having watched what was a very as I expected experimental team at Cheltenham yesterday money needs spending at centre-half that’s not saying I wouldn’t be interested in Bushiri but for me he would be an extra one for the future, there’s a few available Ostigard is one who Brighton want money for and there’s Ben Davies leaving Liverpool left sided too, wouldn’t be cheap wage wise I suppose but in this division we have to compete, there are others.

Talking spine it's the keeper that starts it ,so important .better time to judge after 3 friendly next week ending with wolves game and if still dodgy then Wilson can step in as not a real liability.mcfadz, rose, hyam will be better for last season's expierence.
No Kelly would say we need similar expierence someone that can do the job for 18 months while sheaf becomes a bit savvy in the nitty gritty of the DM.
Up front we have stepped up in quality.

It’s a risk to you because you (and other laymen including myself) know next to nothing about the player. Whereas MR and his recruitment team have done their research.

What research did they do? Have him secretly play 30 pro games last year? Don’t be silly. It’s a risk. It might be one Robins is better placed to take than a layman (I’d hope so!), but Robins also doesn’t *know* how he’ll perform. He’s taking a gamble that hell be able to step up to the level, like any signing that hasn’t played football for a while.

There’s obviously a process in identifying players, we’re clearly not just winging it.

He played against Man U both times in Sheffield Utd’s first premiership season and from their accounts, handled himself well.

All this talk about Walton from some people, he played 2 games last season.

If Jamal Blackman kept Moore out the side and has played a lot more than Moore has over previous years why didn’t we go for him instead seeming as he’s out of contract too

Perhaps Robins thinks Moore is a better bet.
