Gustavo Hamer at Coventry is among the options to replace Yokuslu and the 23-year-old has started impressively in the Championship but further targets will need to be identified and recruited as the basis for a promotion challenge.

Only mention he gets

Apparently we’ve made a move for Joe Bennett who has been released by Cardiff.

Bennett had been holding contract talks with club bosses before and after serious injury struck in March. No deal has been reached, and the man described by chairman Mehmet Dalman as "the best left back in the league" leaves for nothing at the end of his current contract.

Not sure what the extent of the serious injury is (aged 31) but obviously if he can recover we need a reliable left back.

Edit:

Cardiff say scans show Bennett, 30, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and that he will now see a specialist.

"When someone goes down like that and doesn't move, you know they are hurt," McCarthy told BBC Sport Wales after the Derby game.

"He's not good. I'm not a doctor or a surgeon but he'll be assessed tomorrow. He's not in good shape anyway."

Bit of a risk, reading that.

A bit like putting the cart before the horse though. Imagine signing a winger, then signing a manager who doesn't play with wingers.
I think the point is that the club has a vision for how they play which feeds the strategy of the types of players they sign and then hire a coach to implement that strategy. So they wouldn't hire a manager who doesn't play wingers if they wanted to play with wingers.

This.
It's why Everton have failed despite having had an excellent manager in Ancelotti & decent recruitment teams in place with the likes of Marcel Brands & previously Steve Walsh who they pinched from Leicester (discovered Mahrez & Kanté etc.)
They don't have a model of what they actually want to be & recruit around it like most successful clubs do now. This leads to the scenarios you see with ridiculous turnaround of players & management as they're often looking to play a certain brand of football with players that simply aren't suited to it.

Another good example would be Frank De Boer's ill fated tenure at Palace.
