I’d keep Hyam and Rose even though both have underperformed and make them fight it out for the RCB role. Fadz another year for leadership but him behind Osti (who I don’t think we have a real chance of signing so another) then two new LCB both left footed.

Again, all depending on budget.

MacFadzean as an out & out centre half even at 34 is okay and imo good for another 12 months needs pace either side of him. If we can keep Osti even on loan again fine but even if we do we need a left sided CB. Fingers crossed new lad Josh Reid comes up good at left back

Osti + 2 more. Edit: that's just the 3 CB roles, need a LWB too.

Hopefully Reid is ready to challenge early so we only need one LWB. I’d consider McCallum on a perm if Norwich were interested in moving on but not another loan.

We need to sign a new CB with decent pace.

Cameron Burgess is a left footed Center Back from Accrington who have been good this season

Doing well there but not convinced he could play higher. Not particularly mobile & limited passing imo.

I like the look of Rob Atkinson at Oxford, can carry the ball out of defence too (think a budget Harry Maguire). Having come from non league he probably needs a bit more time at League One level yet.

The one I really like is Jacob Greaves at Hull. Superb in possession & solid defensively. Nailed down a starting place at one of the best sides in League One despite being just 20. He's on a long term deal though (3yrs + club option) so probably out of our budget. Only hope is they don't get promoted & decide they need to cash in but even then we'd likely be outbid.

Hi, longtime reader on here but only just signed up.

With the leftback issue for next season, wasn't it said at the time that Day Costa was as good on the left as he is on the right?
That's way Da Costa and Dabo could be in the same team with Pask and, if he's up to it, Reid as back up.

Shows what a tough job Robins has got on his hands. Most people have already said we need at least one first choice striker in which is going to eat up a huge chunk of the budget and now we're talking of, at minimum, needing 2 new first choice CBs and a LWB and probably a goalkeeper upgrade behind them.

Agreed & this is where I think the Brexit situation will have a real impact. Trying to find undervalued elsewhere is going to be very, very tough & of course even more competition for them. I think our recruitment has been generally excellent under Badlan but this might be the toughest window yet.

Absolutely. Which is why it annoys me when people (not in this thread or the other striker thread) are just like 'Robins needs to sell Biamou and go out and buy 2 new strikers', as if it's as easy as that, particularly in the January window

We’re probably six quality players from challenging at the other end of the table. Maybe three this summer and challenge at the middle though.

Yeah, people need to lower their expectations really. As long as we're looking like improving year on year then we can't ask much more. If we end up carrying players not at the level such as Shipley, Hyam, Biamou etc then it's needs must. Even if we could afford to replace the whole squad in one summer the upheaval would likely do more harm than good anyway.

It doesn't take much to go from a mid-table team to a playoff team in the Championship, that's why it's such a great league.

Its also just as easy to go from playoff contenders to relegation battlers

Hopefully we can go from relegation battlers to play off contenders and not go back to relegation battlers but then again it has happened to us before

I think this is a big summer for MR and the recruitment team. Fuck ups last summer could be put down to not knowing the league but with an extra year of experience they should all know what's required, who is up to the level and who needs to be moved on but they have to get the replacements absolutely spot on.

I voted to sign Osti (not likely), keep Rose and Hyam (may as well as we've got a year option so at the very least might get a fee for him), persevere with Drysdale and sign another defender of 2.

Think we stay up Robins will make major defensive changes because he sees what we see a backline of cock ups on consistent individual levels.
