I'd drop him

His constant fouling in stupid areas, his loose passes and lack of winning tackles outweighs the occasional glimpses of class he shows.

If Robins persists with this setup you've got to go Kelly and James Saturday

Let's just be honest, since the End of January he's been pretty poor... I don't know if his agent promised him a move to fucking West brom or something but he's not the same player

Problem is, the honeymoon period is over. He's come and tried to make a name for himself. He's done that, and has lost interest. He knows that he'll be in this division next season regardless if we go down.

The whole team is knackered.

I honestly think he's struggling with the state of the pitches.
He's an intelligent, quick thinking player, at times earlier in the season, too quick thinking and intelligent for those around him.... flat pitches suit this.
Has to have one, maybe two touches at present so initial passes and his instinctive thoughts are gone by then and he has to reprocess a different scenario....
Also isn't helped by the quality of those around him.

The whole team looks leggy not just Hamer there isn’t anyone who’s performing at a consistent level out there I would play flat 4 at the back allowing James to come in with kelly & hamer

He hasn't been great for a few games but I still think he is on a different planet to the rest of the squad. Think he is often trying to force the game a bit too much all the time at the min. Our attack is absolutely awful. If he had players with pace and movement in front of him he would go up another level.

Hamer wasn’t great last night, who was, the Middlesbrough midfield was packed and did their jobs shutting down and denying us space still think Hamer is better more advanced when we press high as I think we as a team are, not too despondent yet but getting Godden back is becoming crucial and critics, our front two are simply not good enough as a pairing.

I thought Hamer had a really good 10-15 min spell not long before Boro scored when he was full of energy, winning balls and attempting to get things moving - this is the player we need obviously. Juxtaposed with that are the needless fouls, many in dangerous areas and not helped that we look susceptible to conceding from set-pieces, and the fact that he's lost a lot of possession. We're struggling up front and our midfield was overran last night, so it might be worth pushing Hamer further forward and playing him in a No10 role behind a central striker to both try something different there and allow us to bring in James alongside Kelly.

Wow it's not like cov fans to overreact after a loss....

Yeah Hamer's tiring and not as effective but hes clearly still our best player, saw a post above about the playing style changing so he's not involved as much - i agree with this. We gone very direct with 2 up top and trying to play off 2nd balls for O'hare to get onto, the pitch isnt helping and Hamer,James and kelly dont have many options in front of them when they do get the ball down. Lets be honest Biamou and Walker have very little quality so it's pass back to the 3 CB's and hoof most the game now. I dont agree with people saying he's not committed either, this is just my opinion but him and O hare run themselves into the ground every game

Let’s run a pole on that I’d put poor old Shipley first selected or not, followed by Hyam, Max, Wilson, Allen if selected.

He's was still better than most last night despite being out of form. That says more about the rest of the team...

Was just about to post the same. Waiting for the odd away game at teams who have a good playing surface. Most of the midfield battle was being played at head height/bobbling in the air yesterday (which doesn't help Hamer!)

I see it as fatigue coupled with shite pitches. He loves playing first time and since you can’t count on a true bounce, some of his passing has looked rather hapless. As other have picked up on, we also miss out the midfield a lot and I think we make the pitch very small for ourselves when we’re on the ball, with the wing backs very rarely having the confidence to make attacking runs when he picks the ball up, unlike earlier in the season.

A few weeks ago he was worth £15m and we were going to lose him to the Premier League.

Now he's lazy and not interested, can't pass and can't tackle.

God bless SBT.

Me?

Not at all. There were people saying he's worth £15m and there are posts in this thread saying he's not interested and can't pass/tackle.

There's the opening post that comments on his "loose passing" and "lack of winning tackles". Not really saying he can't do either.

And there's one saying the poster doesn't think looks fully committed. That's just an opinion.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Let's see how he is in a few weeks. And we are living in the overreacting culture. You'll aways get people one extreme to the other. I said he doesn't look interested because imo, he doesn't. I think he's selfish, tries to do everything himself and I think even MR has come out saying he's trying too much all the time

A quality player no doubt, our style has changed to a more direct game we lost out last night because boro was better at the same game there players are inbred at direct football with all the awnsers.

Right I've had a decent amount of time to chill out now, but hes not playing to the level we saw and expect.
And his needless fouls put us under uneccesary pressure

Hopefully he finds his spark again... The fouls though have been a problem all season.

Hamer is one of the few players that we have that is always looking to move the ball forward, and quickly too. You can see when he and James are on the pitch together that their understanding is on a different level with the way they play little 1-2s and change the angles. He has looked a bit fatigued in recent weeks and is guilty of rushing some of those passes. He needs to learn when he has to pass quickly and when to trade that 0.5 second for a little more composure and accuracy on the pass. Half the time our forwards aren't switched on to it anyway so they're either offside or not ready to receive the ball to feet.

He does also give away too many cheap fouls, especially in our own half and with a defence as prone to self-combustion as ours are, he has to show more restraint. Ill-discipline doesn't just mean yellow card tackles and last night I was amazed he didn't get one for persistent fouling.
