I like him and in the midst of the action it is understandable he gets some of the players wrong. I do that sometimes; I would swear so-and-so scored or missed an open goal and it was someone completely different.

Best on Wednesday was when he kept laying into the Norwich commentary team, who were clearly berating the ref

He was clearly saying loud enough to be heard how unprofessional it was. Surprised that one didnt escalate

Also oggys fixation with Callum O air
Yeah I noticed that, but why, if as Clive said "it's not at carrot road or I wouldn't be there" were the budgie commentators allowed at st Andrews?

Clive is a bit of a comedy figure for us and he does constantly fuck up. After seeing his commentary along with the game I wouldn't trust just listening to it now but having heard some of the other ones this season he's actually alright. Gives at least a fair view of what's going on and you get some idea of the flow of the game.

Does my head in when he's going mental like it's a 1 on 1 when the team are just passing it around the opposition's half though.

Clive and Oggy are a great pairing. The enthusiastic and excitable amateur and the calmer professional. I love it when Clive gets lost/confused...much prefer it to sterile monotonous commentary. Missed him in the last few away games...no commentary v Cardiff and the droning from Watford.

I jokingly said it near the start of the season but I do genuinely think half the stick Sheaf got is because when Hyam made a mistake Clive said it was Sheaf.

I like Clive as well. Think he's actually quite knowledgeable with football and him and Oggy make a good team.
The amount of sweets you hear Oggy unwrapping per game 😂
I agree, they're good fun.

If someone's injured and there's a few minutes break, its like listening to Test Match Special.

When Oggy joined I wasn't that keen. But actually think he is quite good. He is knowlegeable from a tactical point of view, makes some interesting observations and is pretty fair.

Clive makes mistakes but lots of commentators do. It is not an easy job and most of us could not do it.

We are lucky to have such coverage games plus shows Monday and Friday. Its a shame more fans dont phone up and take part?

At least Clive's mistakes can give you a chuckle. I remember one famous BBC commentator saying, " For those of you watching in black and white, Liverpool are the team in red."

''So, it's Sky Blues versus Norwich City at Carrow Road.

No, I mean St Andrews!

If it was at Carrow Road I wouldn't be here, obviously.''

(Not verbatim but as good as. Early in the first half.)

It's only when I listen to other clubs commentary that I truly appreciate our own... It's better than what so so many clubs have..

Clive, even with mild dementia, gets a hard time

Do we get paid to do so ?

TBF Inused to tech and
The Reading main commentator was just about ok but co-commentator was awful, most biased rubbish I've ever heard.

Somehow they both missed McFadzean getting sent off though & didn't mention it for a full 5 minutes+ before somebody in their studio got in touch to point it out 🤦🏼‍♂️

Not the same level obviously. But enjoyed the Alfreton commentary for the U23 game, called Jobello “Tobello” all game and had no clue who had just came on so called over the guy taken off and asked him on air, and still got it wrong! All taken in good humour.

Yes, Clive and Oggy have a great rapport. Clive is good in that he leaves Oggy to get on with the tactical analysis (which is good and far superior to any insight you'd get from many ex footballers who co-commentate for BBC, Sky etc)

Well sort of. Oggy is very “442, get to the byline, get it into the big man” tactically. His disdain for the modern game cracks me up sometimes.

I know it's his job but isn't he a tranmere fan? I often wonder if I'd get as passionate commentating on york city (where I live) but I guess when interviewing and doing the games you become acustom to the team.

I think they both work well together. As someone said Clive let's oggy do the tactics and then jumps in. They also seem to respect each other. The other night oggy was waffling on and brought Clive back in as an attack was occurring. Love that.

The amount of times that prick Martin Tyler cuts off nevville for example is embarrassing

He is a grade A. He is so arrogant and thinks his opinion is better than anyone else's.

Even tonight he's dismissing fans opinions about playing 2 up top by saying we don't play 1 up front, because sometimes the midfielders support. Yes, Clive thays that's what happens when you play a lone striker.

It was a lot more exciting to watch. I’ve lost count of the games we (and many other teams) have dominated possession and lost. Many times to a single fast break.

Even Robins is having a go now!

Clive hates it hahaha.

He never takes anything aimed at him very well. Remember once someone phoned in about ten years ago telling he didn't care because he was a Tranmere fan.

Would love to find a clip of that meltdown!
