This. If I could go back in time the first thing I'd do is tell him not to take this.

Seriously, that free kick at Crewe HAS to be mentioned, it's the one memory that actually lingers and sticks in the throat.
I'd love to know what was said to him in the dressing room after the game.

We'd scored the two goals. In the final minutes we had a free kick. Somehow McSheffery couldn't make the box.

Ask him why he thinks the club still owes him something.

TBF to McSheffrey he wasn't the same player when he came back, but he was decent enough for his first couple of seasons. It's not really as if he was replaced with anybody better after he was put in the bomb squad either way. In retrospect the club should have got another season out of him.

We were 3-0 down away from home, in the JPT area final second leg, (if I remember) and late in the second half we pulled it back to 3-2 and Crewe were on the ropes. City were all over them, their defence was at sixes and sevens, We got a free kick just outside the box, and Mcsheffrey grabbed the ball,...... all he had to do was put the ball in the box and give our strikers a chance.... the crowd went silent,... time stood still.... i put down my pie ..... sheff stepped up....... he hit the first defender, the ref blew, and we were out the cup!

My next door neighbours daughter in law does the voice for Horrid Henry on the tele. Don't often get the opportunity to tell people, so I thought I'd let everyone on here know.

Edit: perhaps ask Gary McSheff is he likes Horrid Henry. If he does, I could arrange to set them up on a (Covid- friendly) date.
