Tbf to Barnsley they have improved since their manager went to another club. Draws at Bristol City, Stoke (who beat Brentford yesterday) and Millwall. 3 points from 9 is a decent return for a club at the bottom, we have 1 point from 12 since we played them

IF and it’s a big if, we continue playing as we are, the results will come. It’s all about starting to take our chances, it’s the only thing we’re lacking in my opinion.

There arnt ant bad teams at this level.
Every single point is hard earned. Brutal league.

Barnsley are a good team. We play to our strengths keep 10 men on the pitch then we should be ok. We are unfortunately or fortunately in the same bracket as them. Bottom 6.

Was surprised we didn’t take a young loan before window closed final day Blackburn took Elliot ok they paid £1m but him

There is the issue. We don't have a million to spunk on a Premiership loanee and pay wages on top. You don't have to pay the big fees in Div1 and 2 and if you play the player you don't have to pay the wages either as the big club is happy for them to get experience. The fat controller at Gillingham said the same about Eccles and Drysdale.

If our new gaffer can get us playing as we are but scoring, we’ll be no where near the relegation battle towards new year. Time will tell.
totaly agree with you! its just a matter of settling the team down to do the basics first though! likewise it will be the extra quality from the opposition that will cause teams like us problems in the long run

Walker is far too similar to Godden.

I am a bit confused by his signing.
Have to agree with this We seemed to chase him for a long time before we got him he’s scored goals levels below 36 in last 2 seasons but I have to agree they seem like for like

Walker
Bakayoko
Jobello
Biamou

Could change shape...

I think we might need to look at a back 4
problem with a back 4 is we fucked off our only left back so we could play with wing backs.

To be honest we've gone full in on recruiting to fit this formation, there are very few things we can change from it. We either try and force our way into making it work or if we continue to punt it long then we just go for playing rough football with a couple of big men up top and the rest back.

We've scored once from open play in 6 games. We need to sort something out.
We don’t have a front 3 to keep us in the division at this rate,we don’t carry a threat Godden is isolated with 2 midfielders playing behind him last night in Shipley & Allen

The lack of pace in attack is worrying. As most of said very early on we have lacked pace and it is killing us.

godden works his socks off but doesn’t stretch the defensive. So if we play stupid long balls to him he just burns him self out chasing everything and it just invites pressure.

O hare looks slow as well atm. We don't have pacey players, we ditched that approach last season to get the ball do the work but I got slated on here by someone in pre season when I suggested we needed 2 quick as fuck wingers because 'haven't you seen us we don't play that way'

I think we'd all take two rapid players now even if they can't kick a ball

Saw some bits of the Brentford Norwich game. Norwich play 4-2-3-1 and their wingbacks (Aarons and Sorensen) were so high up the pitch. I know they have a better team etc but you get the point.

Giles is rapid. So is Bakayoko (though not a winger obviously). Bapaga looks to have a bit of pace. Not sure about Hilssner yet.

It's not a lack of pace that worries me, it's Shipley and Allen being ineffective that worries me. The game just passes them by.

It’s simple we cannot continue to use attacking midfields who can’t impose them self on the game

I dunno why baka wasn't considered yesterday. I know he's probably limited but all those balls into the channel or at Godden yesterday, baka at least gives the defence something to worry about.
I'm sure Robins didn't expect us to play how we did yesterday. Long balls up to Godden wasn't his plan, it's what the players decided to do when they got scared or needed to relieve the pressure.

I wonder if he is injured. Seems strange to suddenly have Biamou ahead of him when Max was seemingly in the cold a week or so ago.

Thing is if we're missing pace and power up front probably the quickest is Baka and the strongest is Biamou. Godden and Walker are better overall players but they're there to put the ball in the net. At the moment they're trying their hardest to get the ball so a chance can be created. If we're not creating chances neither of them will be particularly effective in the team

I don’t think Allen has actually touched the ball this season. He just gets bullied and runs around a lot. Shipley has the right intentions but his mind isn’t quick enough.

You need tricky inventive players up front who can get past a man and drive into the box.

Bapaga has the all the attributes but raw. Jones is now a huge miss. We could really do with a player like that. Jobello can get past a player and drive. But still waiting for match fitness. Hilsner can play on the left of an attacking 3 and is a clever creator, but again waiting for his fitness levels to be up. Robins needs to try a very different things in attack as Godden will not get many chances on his own.

Can’t recall ever seeing jobello get round a man I don’t think he’s that type of player he hugs the touch line shifts the ball and whips crosses in he’s just back from an ACL with a new position to learn in a league above where he last played

big ask

That was the role he was asked to play last season. But if you look at his videos from France, he can carry the ball and drive to the box.
