Fresh Ricoh talks (2 Viewers)

The only strong incentive for a SISU/ccfc return to the Ricoh would be if a particularly good deal was offered. If, as you say, we are just swapping backdrops and financially there is no difference, then it isn't worth returning from a SISU/ccfc point of view.

Id argue good will among your customer base is always valuable.
Wasps probably do need us as the covenant issues centre around a clear potential devaluation of the site which would be strengthened by having a championship club playing there

Then why were they the ones to end talks?

No one knows who actually did end talks but at the time there was some expectation of fans returning and the other side of the business re-opening. Wasps (Holdings) are in a precarious position - no doubt about that and they need a way of hiking the valuation up given the continued lack of cash coming through - Rugby itself is on the brink of collapse and Wasps have 75% of revenue (which barely breaks even) tied up in non sporting income streams

If I were a Wasps bondholder I wouldn't be very happy about being asked to waive the covenants while they were turning down obvious income.

It depend who owns the bonds...........

This cant be anything but positive news. Im sure there would be a break out clause as with most tenancies.

Im sure all the party's will be trying to strike a deal in time for City of Culture 2021. Surely this has got to be the aim.

Be excellent PR and would be a massive deal for sports and Culture in the city. Would be great feel good factor fans or no fans in the ground.

The record is stuck. Only a smallish crowd will follow city away from Cov again. If we come back it will take time to gain trust again...no matter who is to blame.

My thoughts as well. They need to find money from everywhere, make their balance sheet as good as possible and keep the remaining shareholders on board.

Maybe SISU has built up a stake in Ricoh?

I had always thought along the lines of "sod Wasps, sod the Ricoh, let's stay at Birmingham"

But to be honest, if Wasps' future is as bleak as made out to be, then a couple of million extra revenue a year from us won't save them, so we might as well get back there (if we can)

Can only be viewed as positive news of course but the timing is strange from a CCFC point of view.

Whilst no fans are allowed the primary concerns should be the quality of the pitch + whatever is financially beneficial to us.
The playing surface at St Andrews is vastly superior & we know there is a significant break clause to get out of the St Andrews deal.
Not sure we should be propping up Wasps in these circumstances.

Need to be back for next season. This season - crap pitch, no fans? No thanks. That said, great if we get a fair deal.

IF wasps are instigating talks and SISU have some kind of upper hand, I hope this is an opportunity to finally get it right after all these years.

Weather that's a decent cost and length of rental while they actually start to build at the Uni - or an amicable partnership seeing us buy into a 50/50 share of the Richo lease and all the perks the council offered wasps.

Stop the one upmanship, stop trying to screw each other over ... get it resolved one way or the other.
Screwing each other financially is the basis of a market economy. It’s not going to happen.... and before someone replies stating mutual benefits... yes, but only if a both parties think they’ve hot one over the other! I might be a bit cynical from years in business 🤔

Wasps season finishes in the next couple of weeks.
Not sure when the next is due to start.

It's not concrete that we won't be attending games this season, could change any time tbh... So I'd always agree a deal to play in Coventry, irrespective of what the pitch looks like... Because its the correct thing to do.

7 to 10 years is now being talked about.
Contrary to what many believe, no site has even been agreed as yet, let alone secured.
All that has actually happened is that some "talks" have taken place, and nothing more.

Not to go all I told you so, but I did in fact tell people so at the time. We don’t even have a partnership yet.

Still, I’m happy for Sisu to piss about if they do it while CCFC play in Cov.

Actually the timing of the Cov Conservatives breaking ranks with the Labour councillors is perhaps a pointer
If you're right Mark and Pete deserve a lot of credit
I have a suspicion that the Conservatives change of position to potentially oppose the new ground is possibly connected to all the conservative members, donars and voters living in expensive houses on gibbet hill and cryfields. They don’t fancy having football fans walking past their place

This could apply to literally any participant in this mess.

but we have heard multiple times that it was wasps or a 3rd party of wasps that have been the reason for the deal collapsing.

Doesn’t rugby season finish soon. So that would be another income stream gone for wasps until the new season starts

Oh yeah totally applies to Wasps re the talks.

Also applies to CCC for not seeing Sisu as worth talking to and Sisu for trying a rent strike without a fallback option. Hubris all round.

That would be a huge shame. There has to be an agreement that suits both parties for the good of us fans

Where have you seen about the 7/10 years mate?

Only where you are in competition with each other. Generally rugby fans are separate from football crowds so any deal should be mutually beneficial. Under current conditions though, in the short term, unless wasps substantially undercut the deal we have with Birmingham, it's hard to see what benefits there are in returning to the Ricoh.

That's what Joy herself quoted in a web meeting approx 2 weeks ago to a close family member of mine who is going to be inevitably involved should the "idea" of a new stadium progress.
She was also very vague in answering any questions about the potential stadium, to the point where the above mentioned family member is now 100% convinced it's nothing more than a smoke screen covering other reasons.

Sorry for the cryptic answer, but discretion is needed for obvious reasons.
But in short, forget any new stadium.
