Yeah I get that. I’ve accepted that my dislike of separate stands makes me a football fan weirdo. It’s fine. I’ll hang with Otis.
May I hang out with you both? Whenever I see a ground with separate stands, I can’t help but wonder how many extra fans they might get in were the corners to be filled in

What’s the capacity on your boat? International waters is well out of CCC jurisdiction.

FWIW I think you can get a 20k ground for £30m if land purchase isn’t an issue and infrastructure is already accounted for. The Ricoh land had serious contamination issues that massively raised the development costs IIRC (also why it was chosen as I think the Tesco sale paid for the decontamination), also its 50% bigger and as you say has hotel/conference facilities included.

Come on Shmmeee you will never get the seats for and pour enough concreate for 30m for any capacity of 20k or so. Bear in mind all ancillary areas, fitting out, pitch. No way. Rotherham stadium bleachers are just 12 rows and a capacity of just 12k with the initial construction cost (not land preparation) 20m. If you are going to build a 30k+ stadium today it will be on the scale of the Ricoh and building cost have escalated a decade or so on.
Boats in Florida by the way....unfortunately can't get out there at the moment! :)

Yeah I get it Shmmmeee but what was the fit out cost on top, did that include all the land and prperation of? Plus it's just 21k capacity and it was some years ago. Remember I'm talking about today/ in a few years from now and 30/35k capacity. If you could build a nice stadium right down to complete fit out, ready to go with a 30k capacity for under 75m for example = I'd snap your hand off. Remember also we need a proper stadium becuase we are in a league playing 'proper' football now! lol

No one is talking about a 30k stadium. Sisus original plan a few years ago was 12k, now talk of 15-18k. I think 20k is about right until we hit the prem even if it does limit us for big games.

I'm not sure we need 30k capacity personally.

Went past Brentford's (new and current) stadiums the other day, what an improvement that is. Definitely a club on the up, and the new one looks very sharp and smart indeed.

They've coloured the seats mainly red but with splashes of random colours here and there, so on TV the ground still looks full. Always hated the brightly coloured seats of the ricoh, you can see every single empty seat so clearly.
I like the idea of the seats colours represent every shirt we’ve ever had, so different shades of sky blue green black red pink and so on, everyone would be fighting over the brown seats

I wonder how many players we’ve had 🤔 could you assign a seat to each player. I imagine people would pay a premium to sit in the Dion Dublin seat or whatever over the cheaper Onandi Lowe ones. You could auction off the popular ones for STs.

I’m going to stop now, my capitalist instincts are scaring me.

Hi @mark82
When are you meeting with the club to put these questions to them?
Cheers

Need to figure things out. I've got quite a lot on at the moment, but also pointless asking some of these questions until we're in a position to get answers. I'll try to sort through and separate out those that could be answered now and those that will be down the line.

I'm interested to know if it'll be a multi venue event, ie, will it have an athletics track.

Depends if there is land cost. Will ask question about cost/budget though.

I've got a lot of catching up to do on this thread it seems!
I’m sure I read in the joint statement that the land was the university’s contribution to the partnership

Yep here it is

which would see the University provide land to the Club for the development of a new stadium

depends on the size of the individual stands you’re joining up- each of the corners at the Ricoh holds around 3,000. If we had an 18k seater and then filled the corners in then that would put it up to about 25/26k

He’s got a point, you can add a lot of millions for the site prep, excavation, clearance, legals, fees etc. Building the ground itself (which would be in a factory if it’s modular) is the easy bit.

Personally, I’d like to ask...

nothing about seat colours, athletics tracks, stand design, any of that- I’d say that’s irrelevant just yet, I just want to know is this actually real, and if it is can you provide any details around timelines & funding, what stage is the partnership at, when do you think it will be formalised & signed, and what happens between now and then.

Whilst me and my friends were on a stag do in Prague last year we decided to go to a Slavia Prague game.

Whilst in this modern stadium, you can imagine the atmosphere was second to none. Quite steap banks and great acoustics for a bowl type stadium.

What struck me the most was how big it looked inside, when googling I couldn't believe it was just over 20,000 capacity. This is the approximate figure banded around for the new stadium if its ever built to start off with.

I think the architects wouldn't go far wrong at all if they had a look at how its built with the stand design.

The stadium is called The Sinobi Stadium for any who wants to have a look. plny-eden.jpg

The problem with this one (apart from being in Wales) is that the council gifted the land and then worked in conjunction with the club to achieve a community stadium.

Why is that a problem? We’re apparently getting a land gift and a partnership here too.

"available" ?

Just using the club's wording:

Coventry City Football Club and the University of Warwick are delighted to announce that they have commenced planning for a partnership, which would see the University provide land to the Club for the development of a new stadium, thereby creating a new home for the Football Club with easy access for fans living in the City of Coventry.

I used to know a ground that ended up with a 23000 capacity which suit us perfectly and the so club owned it and it was near to the city centre perfectly located to all. Hillford Rd or something like that it was called!
