Robins on 5 Live (1 Viewer)

Did anybody hear all of it? I just caught the end bit:

Look where we came from, the speed to where we got now.
Changes have been difficult decisions, brilliant lads but you have to keep improving
This is a big test, massive difference to Championship
3 teams at the bottom are the promoted teams this year
Building a way of playing, a philosophy
Trying to bridge the gap all the time, sold players to make it a secure season with a decent cup run
Next season there's no doubt we will be bottom budget, have to work within it
Once the supporters are allowed in October it will be brilliant
Hopefully, football will be apart of the pilot schemes
A lot to be excited about next season

I still believe keeping your core players and improving on that can somewhat balance the fact we have an extremely low budget

I'm also hoping our system somewhat stifles the opposition as its an unconventional formation that's difficult to play against...

Survival next season would be great

I heard it all as I happened to be listening to 5 Live while driving
He was his usual self, praising the fans, saying they and the owners had been through the mill in recent years
Said it was remarkable where they club had come from in the last 3 years and how much we're looking forward to next season
Cautioned that three of the teams fighting relegation were those that were promoted last year
And that we will have the lowest budget
Also said it's important that we are playing back in Coventry asap

The use of the ball was so good last year. Difficult to concede if you don’t let them have a touch of the ball

To be honest, I can see people whinging on Twitter already about it.

I don't mind him saying we have the lowest budget in the league. It is pretty much to be expected but even if we didn't there's nobody who would brag about having a high budget, not when you are working on signing players ;)

He’ll understand if we play elsewhere

Clubs just spent over a mill on a player by all accounts... The most we've spent on a player for years...
Club will stay within its means and I hope they never go back to what they were... People like Dan want us to splash and burn

Would be surprised if we have a lower budget than Wycombe.

Don’t forget though they have just given that big lump a new contract (I think I can still call him that without upsetting him, talksport and that crappy soccer am)

Does anybody here want us to get tens of millions of pounds into debt to become a mid table championship team? And then start this whole mess again?

Fuck that. If punching above our weight by continuing the current model and being shrewd in the transfer market being a selling club that attracts young talent is the only way to be sustainable then so be it. And if that means the odd relegation battle then it is what it is unless we got a sugar daddy at some point.

Side note, remember when that bunch of cowboys tried to force a takeover of the club when we got relegated to league two? Look at us now.

surprised the beeb have recognised there is news about Coventry as a club - we very seldom get a mention and most ex players quote other teams as their experience - trust in Robbins !

Of course we are going to have a low budget. We are losing out on gate receipts 5-6 fans a week is not enough to pay top dollar for players and SISU are not going to bank roll us. I am confident that the football we play will be a match for many teams and I do not expect to struggle. Our blueprint is get em young, sell em on. It what keeps us solvent. I am pretty pleased with our scouts and recruitment

no chance, Wycombe are so skint Ainsworth had to sit in the dugout dressed in clothes he'd bought at Tom Pettys garage sale.

If you look at the players we have and the ones they have and if they have a higher budget than us they need to worry, as they hardly have a player that would get in our squad let alone the team.

they've given Akinfenwa a new contract, really nice guy, would happily have a pint with him but in my opinion nowhere near Championship level. He may prove me wrong.

I don’t think you will be proved wrong he is useless just a big lump who gets away with so many fouls because of his bit of celebrity status championship defenders will deal with him easily.

McFadz didn’t deal with him well when we played them in that first half he’s played championship football,he’s just as strong as an ox guys an absolute unit

Could be interesting. Not the sort of player you come up against every week in the Championship.

At 38 and playing at the highest level he's ever played at I can't see him starting regularly.
