Who believes in ironies ?
It was almost inevitable we would draw our landlord in one of the cups and low and behold we drew Brum, as the home team, in the FA cup, now could we be changing divisions with our landlord ? Birmingham are dropping like a stone towards division one, four games left including two crucial ones at Stoke and home to Charlton both just below them lose those two and the brown stuff could really hit the fan, swopping spots with our landlord ironic or what, and leaving us to play Villa at St.Andrews instead of the blue noses.
Could make the Roost very interesting.

Not sure why the roost would be interesting? It's not like we are sending them down.

Great minds....I was just wondering about Blues. If they lose their next two, in particular, it will be squeaky bum time for sure. Wonder what Callum O'Hare is making of it if he is considering them?

Brum do seem to be in rag order at the moment, manager off on his bike at the end of the season, star prodigy Bellingham on his way too, four games left two against teams just below and two vying for a play off spot.

I don't think it constitutes irony (maybe we could ask an expert like Alannis Morrisette?) but the cup draw felt virtually certain once we got into that position. I don't think Birmingham will actually go down but it would be bizarre to pass them on the way up.

Not half, in a nutshell it is claimed the old owner sold to someone the journalist can’t identity and suspects might not exist and two days before Wigan went into admin a very large wager was put on Wigan getting relegated. Going to be interesting how our glorious EFL sort this out when Wigan put their appeal in re lost points.

Doubly funny if Wigan get out of it - they play Hull, Barnsley and Luton in their next 3 games. Fulham at home is their final game, and if Fulham are 'secure' in the play offs, you'd fancy Wigan to win that. I'll be honest, I think they'll get at least 9 points from those games. I actually would love it if some thieving git has 'pinched' a load of money then lost it in a bet like that. Serves the **** right. Imagine how we'd feel if that had been done to us.

It’s going to be really interesting how the football authorities sort this out. Officially at the moment they have to work within the rule book and deduct twelve points but at appeal might struggle to justify and verify a few things.
Then what happens a EFL decision relegates another who hasn’t broken any rules. The EFL/FA most be sweating on Wigan finishing more than twelve points above third from bottom.
As I said going to be very interesting.

They should definitely apply the penalty next year if there's any suspicion of someone trying to fix the competition.

Totally outrageous and unbelievable and pretty darn blatant, too. Shows how weak the authorities are.

This gives some hope though, not only for Wigan but for all of football that the "fit and proper persons" test might finally be facing scrutiny that I hope leads to reform: Leading sports lawyer gives Wigan Athletic fans great hope

Read the story about Wigan last week. Completely shocking. I’m pretty sure I read that when the administrator went in he really didn’t know what he was doing there as the club seemed pretty well run.
Read yesterday on Twitter that the EFL are going ahead with the 12 point deduction anyway. If true, also a shocking move.

I am not sticking up for the EFL but as things stand they have to follow and say that it’s the rules, there will be appeals to the FA and maybe beyond hopefully common sense will prevail. If there is to be a points deduction the very least it should be next season if a deduction puts Wigan in the bottom three, but then the club who finishes third from bottom won’t be happy.

Any competition where money is involved attracts fraud. If a criminal offence has happened then individuals need to be punished and the club may well need treating differently.
Does bring this into a different light for us and our owners and our troubles. It’s why it’s so important that trust and respect are built up between the parties and certainly beteeen supporters groups and owners and clubs

It is also a warning about new owners especially foreign based ones, when you read what has happened (allegedly) at Wigan its a wonder it hasn’t happened before.
