Don't think this helps us re Walsh.
New manager will be keen to have a good look at his squad.
From the outside he will have seen that Walsh cleaned up with the Club (CCFC) awards too.
Just drags things out further... if there is anything to drag out....

Chris Hughton is short priced favourite with Sky Bet
Hughton's record shows that he doesn't trust young players
If he gets the job Walsh is unlikely to get much of a look in

Having just signed Hamer, would we be realistically be looking at Walsh even if he became available?

We’ve seen Walsh’s impressive capabilities. I’d be pleasantly surprised if Hamer was a like for like replacement.

I fail to see how this helps us in regards to Walsh at all. The main reason he was here was because Johnson didn't fancy him and he wasn't getting any game time. The new manager, whoever it may be, would be mad to see how he performed for us and not take a look at him.

I doubt we're even trying to sign him anyway given the Hamer deal.

Liam Walsh “liked” this on twitter. Wonder what this means he thought of Johnson!

Might already have heard who they have lined up/been speaking to....
Or
Johnson was standing in the way of a move that he wanted.........
Who bloody knows......!!

Didn’t Johnson extend Walsh’s contract after seeing how well he did for us? Now that Johnson is gone and not knowing who they have lined up to take over, I’d like to think we could tempt Walsh to come back and place a reasonable bid with BC (regardless of the Hamer signing). Walsh knows how highly MR thinks of him and the setup over here. Just my 2 cents.

Think this changes things with Walsh staying at Bristol if he can be guaranteed a longer term contract and game time at city... no brainier.

Sadly I think the ship has sailed in Walsh and O Hare - their agents will be looking for a payday on a hot favourite for Prem entry - will take us at least two seasons - would love to see them or either with us but we have seen this before - a lot of trepidation and then ultimate failure not down to the player but the agents !

Not sure if these “paydays” exist as they used to couple that with good players becoming available from championship and prem. I think this is going to be a very different and interesting transfer window

I am really not sure why there is any more conversation on Walsh, he isn't coming here. We've signed Hamer and we've got a number of other midfielders already

We have but I'd class most of them as more attacking midfielders.

Sitting deeper we've got Kelly and Hamer, with Eccles as back up.

But Walsh would want to play so which of those two would you leave out. Kelly adds a more physical presence and experience and Hamer has just joined for our biggest fee in a decade. If you played Walsh and Hamer together it's a very short DCM.

Question! did the extended signing of Walshy actually happen before Johnson got the Elbow? can anyone find a link where he has actually signed yet!

I think they just triggered a clause for an automatic extension.

I have a feeling Walsh will be available for loan to a championship club for the first part of the season to see how he gets on at that level. Bristol City will be looking towards promotion and do have better players and will probably look to reshape parts of their team during the summer.

Could we see Kelly start to be phased out? hes 31 during the next season, Give Hamer a season to adjust to the speed of the Championship swapping with Kelly as and when and have the classy Walsh next to them.

Yep. I think the succession plan for Kelly is well underway. Reckon he can get away with it next year if keep this formation as he's got someone next to him and lots of cover behind so any potential mobility issues are covered, but we get his experience. I think longer term they'd like to see Eccles in that role but whether he can step up is anyone's guess.

Interesting. Always thought they both came across as decent blokes so find this quite surprising.

I can only speak for people who have worked with his dad and were lots of things he allegedly demanded such as having his brother paid for scouting etc

Kelly is also a very good player.
