Don’t know why we don’t just try to “merge” with Sphinx (or Pinley or Broadstreet) and develop their site or similar. Might be some planning objections from local houses but you never know.

I was interested to hear Rob Gurney on the Sky Blues Extra pod saying he thought the solution ultimately was a new stadium not the Ricoh.

Yep, the Ricoh is Wasps stadium now. We need our own. Still doesn't negate the fact we need to be back at the Ricoh in the short term.

Jesus Christ why on earth would we want to repeat our mistakes and have another stadium in the same area as the Ricoh? If we get a new stadium it needs to be in a good location where you can have a good match day experience with easy transport links.

Out of town stadiums dont work, I think a 2 mile limit max, Paul Fletcher has even stated this.

Despite their occasional bluster on this matter I have still yet to see any evidence that SISU have the slightest intention of building a new stadium, so as far as playing in Cov is concerned it's the Ricoh or nothing. After all it must be 7 or 8 years now since we were first told of their intention to build our own stadium, yet here we are all these years later no nearer to even starting that process. Given that reality, the question is on what terms do we play at the Ricoh, and I am a bit surprised that SISU haven't made public noises about building on this adjoining site, even if they have no intention of doing so, as a means of putting the wind up Wasps and Cov Council, and negotiating themselves the best possible deal to play there. SISU's end game though still has to be ownership of the stadium, either through Wasps financial troubles or the EU review leading to them obtaining some kind of stake in its ownership, even if it is shared. I see no prospect of SISU investing in a new stadium, and as such we are just kidding ourselves coming up with ideas about Hearsall Common, Ikea or this site.

Sadly, The council will do all they can to make life difficult for the Club and when pushed Duggins words were that "they would do the minimum required by law" to assist with a new stadium.
I wouldn't even trust them to do that.
I don't think some people know or are aware of the Council's absolute hate for SISU and at points in this saga have been happy for CCFC to go to the wall and out of spite not do any business with CCFC/SISU...

I really think this is overplayed. The Ricoh is 3 miles from the City Centre, which is hardly the ends of the earth. I know its not HR, and I get that circumstance has meant that the place has never really felt like our own, but the distance argument always seemed like a convenient excuse for those that couldn't be arsed going anymore. If the move to the Ricoh had coincided with success on the pitch, combined with an ownership stake in the stadium, then infrastructure would have naturally evolved around that to improve the match day experience. Unfortunately the opposite happened, but to move forward now we somehow have to try and make this work for us.

Roads would be an issue. It's not far from the A45 down Broad Lane but Broad Lane itself might be a problem on matchdays as it can get busy just with normal workday traffic. Plus it's not easily accessible from the motorway even though it's the 'right' side of town.
On the plus side though quick journey from Birm Int to Canley for away fans on those European games

Tbh the thread is a bit of fantasy and some of us accept that a new stadium under new owners would be the ideal outcome. The Ricoh is tainted and should only ever be a stopgap until we sort our own one out. Even the design of the arena isn't the club's original but a value engineered piece of shite from architects of Tesco.
Yes it is. As I think most people would get from the words I used like elusive, fairytale ground and I can dream.
I don’t think for one moment Sisu have either the finance or wherewithal to build us a new Stadium, but what I do know, is, if it were come to pass and be within the city boundary then they need CCC on board. Without them it will be very difficult to build, if not impossible. Which is why, if it is to be built, it will be on the periphery of the city(my opinion).

See the council are prepared to use compulsory purchase powers to assist the developer of city centre south (if it happens, seems to be a new plan every couple of years). Kind of goes against the idea that the council can only stick to planning law and have no other influence.

Not sure how that proves councils can break planning law. CPOs are part of planning law.
