Did the BBC reporter at 6 just say the killer approached "the gay men " or the "8 men" in the park ?
My hearing's not brilliant sometimes but I hope they didn't say " gay" . Its irrelevant .

It is relevant if they think that’s part of the reason they were attacked which I’ve seen suggested.

Absolutely right. But I thought no, they must have said "8" because if they said "gay " they would have then added that police were looking into the possibility that you put forward, but they didn't. It seemed totally without context.

One of the victims was definitely gay so it may indicate a motive for the attack

According to C4 news all 3 men were gay and they were interviewing members of the gay community in Reading who knew all 3 men as part of the community. Everyone has been quick to point out though at this minute there’s no suggestion that the men were targeted specifically because of their sexuality.

Before we go too far down this route we need to bear in mind he was on MI5s radar.
Do we know whether he targeted this group or just went into the park and attacked the first group he came across? If he ignored other people on the way to the killings then he may well have had them in mind but I've no idea of where in the park this took place and the proximity of others to the killer at the time.

Fucking hell, have we been assigned to the case?

Not seen this mentioned on the thread but its being reported that intelligence agency sources believe he had mental health problems. Also saw a news report where they'd spoken to his neighbours who said he had regular visits from the local mental health team.

If it turns out that mental health issues played a part I really hope its not going to be down to sticking someone vulnerable in prison where he's been radicalised for lack of a better term.

Not you, you are too much of a renegade that refuses to play by the rules. We need this one done by the book.

Thomas Maer has mental health issues. I really fail to understand your point - anyone radicalised generally has mental health issues uses recreational drugs on An excessive scale and is a loner. Did you want to give him a hug?

When you say he was on MI5's radar, he was brought to the attention of the security services last year because of a rumour about him investigating going to Syria (or Libya, depending on which version you read).
MI5 reportedly investigated the report and decided there was no further action required. So it's more likely the case that he dropped OFF MI5's radar!

Meanwhile, as per an earlier post of mine - he murdered three people in cold blood. Why the fuck does it matter what his motivation was (white, black, gay, infidels, Martians)?. I don't give a shit what his ideology is - he's a mass murderer, full stop!

Bit insulting that articles are being published with the guys family saying how he was a "lovely lad".

Yeah, top bloke.

Of course it’s relevant. It’s a targeted attack on a section of the community based on warped religious ideology. Let’s not brush over it just because it doesn’t fit the current narrative

to be fair there is context to it if you read the whole quote and I don't think there is anything wrong with the comments I've read from the family.

i think it would be worse if they turned round and said he was a wrong un and we suspected something like this would happen.
