Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and earn your own money instead of leeching my taxes. Anybody that has taken furlough payments is a socialist. Sorry to tell you bud.

Childish and deliberately provocative

Darragh MacAnthony has retweeted this. No condemnation of the killing of George Floyd, no standing in solidarity with BLM. Just this. Guy is a real piece of shit.

Is it me or is there something funny about that video? The plank breaking off seemingly nothing, just looks weird. Maybe I’ve spent too much time online.

Edit: definitely the latter. Found the same incident from another angle that makes sense.

I treat everyone as an individual. That is what we all are, individuals.

You can't have that attitude as the police though, at least not in the USA.
You have to immediately assess the danger when encountering any individual.
Anyone could be carrying a gun, knife or other weapon.
Police have been shot and killed just for approaching someone.

so why did they let armed, white, anti lockdown protesters storm government buildings without lifting a finger?

here you go if you want to play silly games and dance around it.
Everyone knows it happened and everyone knows why the police did fuck all:

Armed lockdown protesters in Michigan statehouse
You'll also notice the Hawaiian shirts which is the official uniform of white supremacists preparing for a second civil war. These people are actively looking for armed conflict and they get nothing, black people are murdered for carrying a fake $20.

Hawaiian shirts and military fatigues? There dress sense is as warped as their politics.

clutching at straws, it’s as vile as anything that’s gone before

Yep. It’s fuck all to do with social justice. Just people wanting to smash shit up. Same as the London riots in 2011 after the first day.

An MLK type figure is desperately needed to give those who want to protest a lightning rod around which to do it while exposing those who just want to riot.

She’s not a spring chicken. It doesn’t really matter though really. If we are all going to learn to walk upright then we need to see all of this as barbarism. Problem is there will be people out there who think that the killing by the cop is justified and people who get off on seeing the lady get bashed. It’s a disease that is rampant called hate.

in the current climate a MLK type figure would be shot withing a week of sticking his head above the parapet.

The woman was 24 years old. Again, it makes it no better but the more accurate information, the better.

I went to a few anti Nazi league marches and events when I was younger (still at school)
I was strongly anti racist but I'll be honest it always used to kick off with the NF and for lads of our age out was a great laugh.

There were real issues with racism back then and you may tell me different and I'll accept that but I think things did get better for a long time (not perfect but better).
I think we've hurled backwards in the last few years and it pissed me off. Life throws up enough shit as it is without this silly ignorant bollocks looming over society

I did work for a long time with motor retailers from 2000 for a decade and you would I think be surprised how there was still pretty bad prejudice to be honest

As an example we had to work with retailers to decide who would work in key positions - I never went to the interviews and really just asked them to give me the best candidate in their view. This would have been around 2002 I would guess. So this guy showed me the CV of the best guy and I said sure then lets approve him. He shuffled a bit and said "well he is black and I don't think black people will work well with our customer base" He could see the look of horror on my face and played the usual "I would employ him but bollocks" - depressing actually and this guy on the face of it was the dullest middle of the road guy you would see. He did not employ him I never really could deal with the guy again. I just left the place feeling sad to be honest.

Racist behaviour was rampant and what I never really got was how people would just tell you without knowing anything about you. So I employed a tactic so if someone was say anti black I would say "my wife was black (she isn't) just at least to embarrass them and actually it worked well in at least getting a squirm response

One guy I met who ran a retailer in North London was the most incredible racist I have ever met. Never met him before. "Can you smell the air full of stinking Pakis round here" We actually went for lunch at a curry place but of course "then can cook mate but they smell like shit"

I never have heard so much racist rubbish in one day than from this guy and he was a fairly young guy.

So played my card at the end "You will not like my wife "mate" as she is from India"

His response "Na mate she'd be an English Paki not a Paki Paki"

I just left in a state of paralysis

Not much different to the original climate then. There needs to be a movement people can join with spokesmen that can distance the movement from the looting and violence and put across clear demands. The rioting may be a symptom of unmet needs previously but it won’t be what forces political change.

I worry that since the ‘net every movement is some anarchic flat structure like Occupy and XR and that just allows it to be tarnished and achieve nothing.

None of that surprises me at all. My squirm card beats yours though. It’s why I refuse to believe it when people say they don’t hear racism. I hear it pretty much every time I go out.

Of course it does but I just don’t understand it. I honestly don’t see differences and I don’t understand it
