I'm getting mixed up .
I'm fairly sure Raab and maybe one other suggested R was between .5-.9 although I think it was realistically .7- 1.while new cases were running at 5,k. per day a couple of weeks ago
So if we're at half or less in new cases , why is R the same ?
Or was it double back then ?

We've got to the stage where the press are openly and brazenly taking the piss out of the PM on live TV.

You love to see it.

Some fucking bedwetters on here.

Why do people want to still be sat screaming about how we're coming out of lockdown? It has to be done. And its proven all across the world this fuckers disappearing.

Remember. Lockdown was to prevent an unmanageable peak. Not to eradicate the virus.

Seems people have forgotten that

Not really I just wanted us to be below 100 deaths a day and to drop quarantine requirements from countries that basically have no new infections. Is that unreasonable?

While I get your point, having been enduring differing levels of toothache since first week of lockdown, I'll be heading for one soon-ish!
Yeah I get that people will.

Just seems a strange one. Hopefully they make it emergency only so only people in real pain can go

Or get Edward Scissor hands to do the work

It's things like dentists that have been the real challenge though. To a certain extent it's like all the other hospital cases where people stop going because of this.

Sure, stop routine checkups and cosmetic procedures mind you.

Johnson announced you could have barbecues and then immediately back pedalled and had the science lads immediately playing it down.

He literally can't help but blurt out absolute rubbish every time he opens his mouth. A total liability.

I do worry we're doing it just because everyone else is, though, and they're further along squashing it than us.

I even get that if I must get it, summer's probably the best time, but I'd be a lot more confident if our systems worked, it seems we can't even count now!

Sounds like if it's been really bad you could just about get an extraction.
I'd have thought some of the biogear I've seen being worn should cope .
Thinking of the completely.enclosed headgear.

Exactly about the rules contradicting phase 0 was easy, you can go out an exercise between 6am and 10am or between 8pm and 11pm for an hour only upto 1km from your property, over 70's can exercise between 10am and 12am or between 6pm and 8pm. Children under 14 can exercise between 12noon and 6pm, as long as no more than 3 kids, with one adult. That was simple.

Rules (LAW in Spains case) for driving from the begining was 1 person per car You couldn't take your wife shopping and stay in the car whilst she did the shopping, even if she couldn't drive. I know many people who were fined in the begining, they soon learned. However 2 people from the same household were permitted to travel together for a doctors appointment provided the passenger was sitting in the back.

Phase 1 you had to respect you exercise times but was also allowed to go to an outside bar, business were allowed to open as long as they gave out appointments, such as hairdressers, which gave you permission to be out outside your exercise times, but not bars, no appointment needed. Totally contradictory.

I went for a drive last week to see what was open, Puerto del Rosario, our capital was heaving, or rather the estate alot of out of town larger retailers are (similar to alvis retail park with B&Q), couldn't get a parking space outside Ideal. Just wanted some cement to do a little job whilst not working.

However now in phase 2 we can exercise now when we want, but over 70's still restricted to exercise between 10am to 12noon also 6pm to 8pm. We have been advised to respect the over 70's timeslot and avoid going out during this time.

Now we are being told to wear a mask at all time in public.

Yep, as for meeting up in Las Palmas, sounds like a plan. Same here we have to check finances, we may go by ferry or plane, it's usually plane and hire a car, but the wife keeps say we need to go by ferry next time so we can fill the car boot.
Had the same when I went to Arguineguin to get a new battery for the Jeep, people all over the place and that's where the town hall is. Went to San Fernando a couple of days ago to get my laminator repaired by the main Police Station down south and again rammed.
Yet in PR people are still staying in unless walking or the pub as no one wants to risk the fines as we don't know the rules properly and police keep patrolling. Yet in the other 2 places I never saw one. Hmm, PR full of expats so easy pickings, the others mainly canarian or spanish so left alone.

Definitely looks like it’s disappearing in the US and Brazil doesn’t it??

And more closer to Europe, Africa, where they dont have the money, let alone the resources to control this pandemic. This is more likely where a second wave will more likely come from.

However as we know more about this disease, we may not have to go into full lockdown. Maybe, unfortunately, lockdown those more vulnerable to die.

Johnson completely ignored any questions today about Cummings. He used the other two experts either side of him to divert away from such . They knew it. They knew what he was doing .
I'm still angry about what has happened with Cummings and Johnson's handling of it is despicable. I won't be voting Tory at the next election if he is leader, and he probably will be.

No way he'll be leader at the next election.

If there's one thing he hates it's scrutiny, and there will be all manner of inquiries at the end of all this, and there's no way he'll stick around for that.

He'll probably wait till Brexit is 'done' so he can take the credit for that, then he'll bugger off.

That day cannot come soon enough.

You'd almost think we had the highest per capita deaths in the world

Well in the case of Adolescent Dave it's because he's loved his 3 months of 24/7 on this thread.

Exactly.
It's Ernie and the pretend company.

Not one of JK'S finest.

Hi Ernie we're all still waiting for the boycott of chinese products your made up customers for your made up company were not really telling you about.

You're just a fucking Walt mate.

I also must have forgot the slogan stay in protect the NHS then were don't give a fuck about how many people die.

Lockdown was about lots of things but the fella who thinks an industrial economics lecturer knows more than the worlds epidemiologists isn't worth listening to.

Course he won't be. It'll be Dominic Fucking Raab, and everyone will say what a refreshing change from the last one he is, how he'll sort out the problems, and give him a 400 seat majority.
Dominic raab ? He'll be a refreshing change .

I have heard so many people who were fined, just before Easter when the UK news were kicking off about buying Easter Eggs, a man filled his trolly full of booze, fined 100€ for not buying the essentials.
A friend of my daughter got fined for going to far for a supermarket, he was spanish but wouldn't say how much.
Another friend got fined 100€ per person for having 2 in his car to go shopping, one of these were disabled, but was told the disabled woman should have remained home, still not sympathetic.
A bar owner we know got fined 600€ each person for having a bbq at home, 10 people involved.

However fines have calmed down now, our police local, were advised when phase 1 kicked in, to stop people point out there wrong doing and not fine, atleast for the first 5 days after that people should have got the message. This info came from my daughters, boyfriends mum, who is our local councillor, so if we are unsure of the rules we ask her.for clarification.

My daughter had suffered the most in our family, not being able to see her boyfriend, but thank God for internet and whatsapp.

I am still waiting for my two tone football shirt, ordered in March for my birthday, got tracked as far as East Mids airport a month ago, got in touch with the football club still waiting for the second shipment, no tracking details and ignoring my emails.

If we were any where near remotely competent in dealing with this crisis then people would probably feel most assured and less likely to be up in arms about any suggested easing. Suggestions like yours would be part of a clear, thought out and coherent plan (see NZ for example)

These changes are purely based on ideology - because they sure as hell aren’t based on any scientific fact.

Deaths have decreased significantly as have cases, ppe has now been ordered and we have 100 contracts in place, testing is high over 100k however the 5th point about another peak which we might not have met yet, it’s risky
Deaths have only decreased significantly because an incompetent government allowed them to get so significantly high in the first place. The fact that you’re having to use the word significant in the first place is a measure of failure not success. The PPE needed ordering in 2017 when the government told itself it needed to, ordered now is again a measure of 3 years failing to do it already. We haven’t realised tested numbers in almost a week so you don’t know that and even then the figures are bullshit for all the reasons FP has already pointed out to you.

It will be Sunak - Johnson won’t do another term regardless if this he can do the circuit and make some real cash

I've put money on Gove.
Think Sunakis the best candidate but can't help think they'll go for someone with a bit more experience.
