This is outrageous (1 Viewer)

Not really sure why this "story" is deemed worthy of full BBC website coverage tbh....other than the obvious opportunity for people to be "outraged" on social media.

Just watched it.... Very odd!!! To me It implies that middle class white Americans believe the NY police are institutionally racist and will act on the mere mention of a black guy threatening their life....regardless of the fact he was quite rightly asking her to put the dog on a lead. It’s behaviour by people like her that gets people like the guy shot!!!!

Exactly!

And black people have been shot for just this kind of thing, of the police being called out and tensions leading to the discharge of firearms.

I would say it IS outrageous. Could have easily ended up with a terrible result and this innocent guy being shot

I am glad the Beeb covered it. Why did she have to say it was an African-American when she rang? Straight away. No-one had asked for any description. She immediately went for that thinking the police would come out much more quickly and like I say, there have been many innocent black people shot when the police have been called out for minor incidents.

None of it is at all surprising. So glad my grandad chose to come to this country from Jamaica rather than the US. Dreamworld here compared to there.

Nice to see her careful use of 'African American' all while trying to get someone done over for being black in public.

Apparently she quite senior in some insurance company and their websites been sabotaged.
In the mean time she's apologised and the man's accepted it. Cummings take note!

I will say though. Nothing better than being able to whip your phone and film things instantly. Saving many an arse. I mean let’s be honest. If none of that is on camera they are believing Karen 100 times out of 100.
The saddest part of seeing posts like this is when you look at the comments there's a lot of people that still think Karen is in the right even when there is footage. You see videos of innocent black people being arrested, harassed, threatened etc followed by numerous comments along the lines of 'what happened before they started filming'.

A few years ago I would have said that more access to information would improve things, it only seem to have made things worse.

Kind of the point I was trying to make tbh.....
What is effectively a non-story (in the big scheme of all things racist in NYC) gets posted around the world simply to help further polarise & whip up hate....
for every dickhead defending the woman with things like "why was he filming a lone woman in a park anyway" to others suggesting she should be charged with attempted murder as she was clearly trying to get a black man killed by the police....

"Outrage fodder" for cunts from all sides basically...

She’s been sacked. Silly woman, messed up the rest of her life trying to be “clever”. No one will now employ her and she will be a social outcast.

Stupid women, the west seriously need to change the narrative that women are victims.

Don’t often get angst or political... but unseen under the surface racism gets my back up!!!
White people don't see it as privilege because society grants it with zero effort. The system is stacked in a white persons favour and most of the time people don’t even notice because it’s the norm. If the system doesn’t recognise its doing it and white people keep getting to the front of the queue by virtue of having white skin then how do people bring about change in a short period. It may take another generation for the next step change in behaviour!!!

Saw this video yesterday, was shocked at how the officer seemed to take great pleasure in what he was doing.. I kept waiting for him to actually take his knee off his neck and check on the man but It just became extremely uncomfortable to watch as it dawned on me he was never going to... Therefore he should be tried and charged with murder.. That's not manslaughter imo

The incident you're referring to was in Minnesota.
The officer involved has been sacked but apparently Minnesota rehire a large percentage of sacked officers! It's appalling.
As some one pointed out, this black fella passed a dodgy check. Contrast his treatment with that Rolfe fella who killed 9 people at a synagogue, they treated him like they were helping an old lady across the road.

Its clearly murder. The fact that in instances like this and that jogger who recently got hunted down and shot (Dad and son charged with murder of US black jogger) require public campaigns before changes are brought is as big an issue as the crimes themselves.

As well as the guy who actually carried out the murder there was other police on the scene, why did they stand by and do nothing? You also have to question police vetting as it appears he was openly racist. There's now pictures of him going around twitter wearing a Trump style cap with 'Make Whites Great Again' on it, as well as pictures of him onstage with Trump at a rally. Trump of course said at one of his rallies that the police should be rougher with suspects.

The were 3 more dibble holding him down.

All he was accused of was writing a bad cheque
