EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted (2 Viewers)

Okay, as the "meeting" is planned for tomorrow, I'm going to send this idea forward to the EFL.

If they're so desperate for a playoff, how about 1st and 2nd are promoted. Then a mini playoff for places 3-11. The 4 teams in positions 8-11 (to keep Evans and Gillingham happy) play a mini cup (8v9 and 10v11 with winner of both having a final) with no replays but pens if necessary. This will generate the final place for a playoff comp for places 3-7 and the winner of the mini cup. 3 teams each in a mini league. Play each other once, number draw (like the proper cups) to decide home or away. Winner of league A plays Winner of league B to get the last promotion spot. Maximum number of games a team can play is 5 so that keeps costs down and lets everyone have a chance at getting through.

Can't be any worse an idea than some of the crap these chairmen and their lackies are coming out with.

Nice idea, but by putting that many games on theres almost an argument to continue the season!

Integrity of the game is important, and to say the league has a format that we should stick by is a grievous mistake given the circumstances, and that no governing body could have legislated for.
I mentioned somewhere (there are so many post everywhere) that looking at the table, games in hand, PPG weighted or otherwise, it would seem sensible to suggest Perterborough are very much in the fight to go up. Even with one game they could go second had we played another week before it was halted. Would you not say that matters? Wycombe could not have gone second even if they beat the best in form team in the league, away at St.Andrews.
So come on reflect on the table a little, see how tight it is below us. Sunderland having played extra games already are out of it if I'm honest when you draw that line.
Rotherham who everyone is ignoring somewhat, are no way safe in second and so should join the playoff bunch, if playoffs are to be played.

That means a mini tourmament involving Rotherham down to Wycombe, leaving out Sunderland. That in all fairness looks the most sensible and resonable thing to do. The fixtures should be best place plays worst placed, and so forth as those already higher placed should have a slight advantage tbf. Play it out BCD at a neutral venue over a few days with testing and all that has to be done.
For those that would argue with me over play off places, please look at the table, what the next fixture was for everyone, form, goal difference, and tell me it would be fair if Peterborough were guzumped by Wycombe using one of those PPG scenario's?

Aha, that's where my maths GCSE comes into it (read, I have no idea what I'll type next :p ). Mini cup, total of 3 games. League A has 3 games, League B has 3 games, Final is 1 game, amazingly :D So a total of 10 games to resolve the season, not 10 games each team with possible playoffs after that as well.

What a load of crap coming from Peterborough.

What next if they don't get promoted they won't get a billionaire owner.

As has been said already. The leader needs to actually lead the meeting. Not pussyfoot around like a namby pamby.
I swear the other day I read something like Parry was trying to get another meeting for yesterday but it depended on availability of club officials. Why give the choice?

Exactly, if you're not there/skyping, your vote is void. Simples.

Parry is a chairman, not a President. His ability to command is limited.

Do we start to weight points differently for when teams had more players injured? Do we weight it for when Bolton had kids? The manager had a bad nights sleep?

We've gone far enough in the season for a ppg table to accurate enough when clubs are on the brink of going bust.

The chairman needs to be strong from the start. A good old fashioned huge bang of the fist of his table to start the meeting would get the right atmosphere!

Have a look on Twitter. DMaC has just posted 16 messages how he is being portrayed as the villain and actually he’s doing what best for the game. Apparently the top half of the table all want to play on? Bollocks.

trying to salvo his image...lol

Sounds like a kid coming out of a tantrum and apologising for his earlier flippancy.

Posts weird coronavirus stuff :emoji_heavy_check_mark:

He's backed himself into a corner and is getting increasingly desperate. Not least as he said he'd quit if they didn't get promoted this season.

He's now making weird claims like clubs not agreeing to his weird expanded play off idea will mean he has to get rid of staff!

he retweeted a huge & bizarre conspiracy theory about the virus being made up by the “metropolitan elite” which Matt Le Tissier had reposted, he comes across as a very troubled man

Exactly, why would any team other than one that was out of the play offs but would now be in this expanded play off vote for it?
Agreed Chief. I'm wondering which way those that wouldn't be involved would vote. No skin off their nose how it's decided ... unless the money isn't dished out until the season has "finished"? Might be their interests to get the tables sorted and as few play off games played as possible - and quickly?

MacAnthony lives in Florida where all the nuts are opening everything up again. That should tell you enough about his opinion.
