Might be being thick here by I can't work out why 20 out of 24 voted for no relegation in league 2?

All I would say to darragh is, take your play off chance and run... As let's be honest your team are as consistent as curdled milk

Wait... They wouldn't make it as Wycombe have a game in hand lol

I think they’d finish 5th under weighted PPG

Well, I've got champagne in the fridge and vodka in the freezer ready for a little promotion celebration. I suppose they will have to stay there until next week.:emoji_disappointed:

Please excuse the intrusion to your forum but would appreciate your comments. As a Rotherham United supporter of 54 years (and yes I know I could have been out of jail by now) I would appreciate your opinion.

Clearly every club is looking after itself but of the six teams Sunderland and Ipswich have nothing to gain at all. Fleetwood, Portsmouth, Oxford & Peterborough clearly have.

Whilst appreciating all the bluster given last night, the fact that league 2 have decided to finish puts more pressure on them.

It would be interesting to see if the party of 6 stay together on this, but with the carrot of a play off, I wonder what thoughts Fleetwood and Oxford have on this. The reason being, however ppg is decided be it weighted PPG or standard, they are in the play offs irrespective of which method is used. Potentially do they stick or twist? i.e accept play offs or risk a further 9 games and go for 2nd and run the risk of getting caught by Sunderland or others, not in the mix?
Weighted Ppg- ( favoured by League 2 this afternoon) means Portsmouth are out of the play offs
Standard ppg ( favoured by EFL) sees Posh miss out.

Wycombe would be guaranteed play offs either way.

Would appreciate your views but do you think some of the 6 will break ranks?

Eventually the 4 clubs that benefit from PPG to make a playoff spot will agree as that's the only option, it will being just Sunderland and posh pushing back as Ipswich are never making the playoffs.... IMO all bottom 3 clubs will oppose but with 18 from 23 voting in favour it's a done deal...that's my 50 cent

Tranmere will vote to play on - they’re in form

And from what I’m reading today for the vote to be passed only needs 51%?

Interesting... apparently the EFL was going with weighted PPG but earlier this week changed their approach to unweighted. This meant Posh were in the play-offs and now with unweighted they won’t be. All makes sense why DM has kicked off.

Haha, I did wonder...

Looking at both the weighted and unweighted tables, only Posh are the ones who lose out for a play-off place. Relegation remains unchanged.

Tranmere might kick up a fuss, but that leaves only 2 teams who would vote against the EFL proposal on Monday.

Posh and Tranmere.

The Fleetwood chairman already mentioned that playoffs might be acceptable. I think they had to possibly show unity today after their outburst last night but next meeting with a secret ballot we shoudl end up same as league 2, su two up and Oxford, Fleetwood, Wycombe and Pompey in the playoffs.

Watch the ‘united’ front break apart like dried play-doh now.

Thanks for your post and having seen Rotherham twice this season, I think you deserve an automatic promotion place, albeit behind us.
I respect to the”disruptive 6” . I think that if basic Ppg is now offered with a play off then some of the teams in places 3-6 will break ranks . As they might prefer to play Wycombe rather than Peterborough!
Especially if the play offs are at Wembley on a big pitch

Just out in the Times:

EFL to use points-per-game system if seasons can’t be completed
League Two clubs in favour of ending the campaign

The English Football League has announced that it will use a simple points-per-game system and promotion play-offs to decide the outcome of the three divisions below the Premier League if the season cannot be finished.

The announcement means the EFL will not agree to any moves to declare the season void and intends to have final league tables despite the chaos caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

Any vote will have to be agreed by a simple majority of the clubs in each division, while the Championship clubs will also have to agree even if they decide to play out the season behind closed doors.

If the season does not restart and the EFL’s unweighted points-per-game framework is used, Leeds and West Bromwich Albion would be promoted from the Championship with Fulham, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Preston North End in the playoffs. Charlton Athletic, Luton Town and Barnsley would be relegated.

A meeting of League Two clubs today ended with a majority in favour of a points-per-game outcome, with promotion play-offs and no relegation. The bottom club Stevenage would be relegated on goal difference under that system, but as Bury’s expulsion last year means there are only 71 clubs in the EFL they could retain their status and still allow Barrow to be promoted from the National League.

Under the EFL’s framework, clubs would be promoted and relegated from League One and the Championship using points-per-game, and not weighted on the basis of home and away matches.

An EFL statement said: “In the event of a curtailment of the season, the EFL Board outlined how this could be addressed through a framework that includes maintaining the principle of promotion and relegation, league tables to be determined via unweighted points per game (PPG) and play-offs to remain in every division to determine the final promotion place.

“Having considered the protocols and costs that would be required to be met to conclude the current season, League Two clubs have unanimously indicated a preferred direction of travel to curtail the campaign in line with the framework outlined by the EFL Board.

“In addition, clubs asked for consideration to be given to suspending relegation to the National League for 2019-20 as a result of circumstances created where fixtures cannot be completed. No commitments were made in this respect and the Board will now consider the implications of the division’s preferred approach at their next meeting.”

In League One, Coventry City and Rotherham United would be promoted on points per game with Wycombe, Oxford, Portsmouth and Fleetwood in the play-offs – Peterborough are sixth now but would just miss out as Wycome have played one game less.

In League Two, Crewe, Swindon and Plymouth would be promoted with Exeter, Cheltenham, Colchester and Northampton in the playoffs.

A meeting of League One clubs ended with bitter divisions and without a majority in favour of any course.

“It was acknowledged that the need to find innovative and creative solutions was of paramount importance as was the need for decisions to be taken quickly,” said the EFL statement.

“In addition, Championship Clubs met earlier this week and have indicated that it is their wish to play on and conclude the season.”

MacAnthony on talksport now. Seems pretty down in the dumps. He just touted an 8 team tournament, not including the top 2, straight knockout winner takes all.

I like that idea, well I'd like any idea that saw up up so yea
