Just seen a useful summary of tonight's speech so I thought I'd copy it here to help everyone understand:

Stay alert. If not staying home. Stay home if not being alert. Go to work. If not working at home. Work from home if possible. If not working from home don't use public transport to get to work. Even though public transport is available. At work do work. Safely. In a socially distanced manner. Where possible. If not possible do some other thing. Don't work at work if work is closed which lots of work is because work isn't reopening if work is one of the places of work we were told to close. After work play sport and sunbathe but only with people you live with not people you work with. Unless you live with someone you work with. Or work with someone you live with. Stay alert for the alert system which will wave about madly on a dial between green and red where red means everyone is dead. If you are sufficiently alert you might be allowed to be less alert after the 1st of June. But likely everyone will go mad on Wednesday and the needle will lurch to orange so being alert will revert to stay home and it's back to March 23rd. So, stay home. No, hang on, stay alert. Not home. But you should stay home. Unless you're at work.

Not really.
What I've said is correct (I think) given the ambiguity.
If the travel message is the same, previously essential travel only, why has he said people in England can travel to other destinations?

The social distancing message is the same and that hadn't been changed

Wait till next weekend when the sun comes out
Let's see if people got the message.

Did you read the rules I put up?

You can also carry on making up your own stories as you usually do.
They will be updated come Wednesday to clarify exactly what this ambiguity means. Personally I'm guessing it will be a tweak that allows MP's to travel to their second homes.
Nice insult. Cut me to the bone.

So you was wrong?

And you are happy to be wrong again?

Yes but only short distances and a good reason. Is this too difficult to understand?

I have learned one thing tonight. I now understand why people are so thick when they do their own thing when all the information is out there.
No, I'm not wrong. The debate is about what can happen from Wednesday onwards, not what we can do today, tomorrow or Tuesday. The PM clearly stated that from Wednesday we can "drive to other destinations". In the absence of any further definition we can all interpret "other destinations" in any way we wish. And obviously the police can no longer stop anybody under the CV regulations (as long as we are driving in England, of course).

Yes as previously I wasn't able to drive for exercise. Now I can and nothing has been said of a limit of how far I can travel on the road.
Skegness seems a popular place but it's absolutely shit..

2 brief thoughts/ questions

1. I just watched it back and yeah, it’s pretty confusing. But what strikes me more is how unconvincing Boris looks, I don’t think he has a clue, he’s just reading the autocue with the odd pumped fist for effect, he’s embarrassingly bad and about as ‘unstatesmanlike’ as anyone could be.

2. Why is everyone talking about Skegness, what has happened there

The impression I'm sort of getting from Johnson is a hidden "get back to work scum" hidden inside a massive dollop of craving popularity by easing lockdown a bit because people are getting sick of it. But make it massively ambiguous so if/when it goes tits up you can blame the public rather than the advice you've given.

This has nothing to do with it being the right thing to do from a science perspective, it's about it being the popular thing to do.

Boris said people would be now able to drive to "destinations" without setting out any rules. Clint used driving to Skegvegas as an example of what the opaque statement could be argued to allow.

Astute showed his name to be ironic and posted a set of government advise from over a week ago before this statement as proof nothing had changed.

People laughed

What the fuck is this nonsense?

Yep. R = 1 should be a long way down the curve, not the peak of it. Also at no point did it show the possibility of R going back up again and restrictions being put back in place, which it should do to show things could get worse again if people don't 'stay alert' (whatever the fuck that means).

Fuck I'm starting to feel a bit drowsy and sleepy. Must stay alert. Will have to put an espresso next to my bed just in case.

This I assume is why you are angry as you always are on the wrong side of an argument

You really should learn the difference between right and wrong and popularity. Just because something is popular doesn't make it right.

These changes are being made because Johnson thinks they'll be popular. Not because they're right.
