Also totally ignored by most sci-fi stories is that it's impossible to travel long distances at high speeds without also travelling forward in time. And the time travel is one way so you can never get back to the time period from which you started.
There's always wormholes, which since space is curved, you could theoretically use to travel from any place in the universe to any other place in a fraction of the time linear travel would take.

You do know that a wormhole in space is purely theoretical? There isn’t actually any evidence that A) they exist at all and B) even if they did exist that they’d actually work in accordance to any of the many theories about how they could work.

Theoretical to us, but maybe not to aliens.
But regardless of whether there is any such thing, aliens could have means to travel vast distances that we can't even imagine.
Just as ants, even though having sophisticated societies, have not yet invented the internal combustion engine.
