Btw after we had the discussion on the tik tok video why weren't we outraged at all the pictures of nurses and doctors in masks etc holding up signs saying 'Get Well Soon Boris'? Surely they've got enough to do without faffing around making signs and posters for facebook/Twitter likes? Plus why specifically mention Boris to get better? What about every other patient? You know, the ones that didn't specifically deny you a pay rise and has failed to procure you the PPE/ventilators either through incompetence or mistruths.

This is a virus. It is completely indiscriminate as to who it will infect. It appears quite random (what we know so far) as to who it kills.
So to stop people dying from it we need: -
1. Something to fight (cure) it in those infected
2. Something to stop spreading (prevent) it:
a. A vaccine
b. More of what we are doing

Depends how it is handled.
About 500 people are employed where I work. Those who can work from home do. Thise with underlying health issues of any kind are off on full pay. We have people in sterilizing what can be touched 24 hours a day. Our temperature is checked each day on arrival to work before we get on site. Any slight symptoms and off for 14 days.
Don't know what is happening elsewhere though.

It does have a pattern on who it kills.
But as we have already stated you can not make 60 million people stay in for 19 months. What will happen is eventually more and more people will risk breaking the restrictions and eventually they fall apart. People are irrational when it comes to decision making. There's been some good studies into this and it's effect in the 1918 flu pandemic.
At some stage the transmission rate will drop low enough that you can loosen the restrictions. To back this up you then have to be able to implement a comprehensive track and trace program. If the transmission rate gets to high again you then implement the restrictions again.
You then have to take into effect the economic damage that is happening to the economy. Like ot or not there will be trade off offs on this and medical reasoning. The cabinet is already split on this.
It will a decision made based on epidemiology, mental health, physical health, economic and behavioural sciences reasoning.

Worked for them since the mid 90's. Even moved my wife and younger kids 200 miles away from the older kids to change plants. But giod employers are rare.
The wife's mother died boxing day. When the funeral was arranged the wife couldn't get a flight from France. So they let me have an extra 2 weeks off as I was already in France but due back at work before the funeral. They are also paying us extra money for working presently. We didn't even ask for it.
Had some right shit jobs before so appreciate it.
Really strange. He's arguing over the semantics of lockdown because if he doesn't his condescending reply to my original post has no merit. The ridiculous thing is I didn't even use the term "lockdown" I asked what social distancing measures might remain in place while opening the economy back up.
He's manufactured an argument from nothing, painted himself into a corner, and now can't retreat from it. Basically he's done a Grendel.

The rules are virtually the same: no non essential travel, non essential shops closed, gatherings banned, schools closed. The only real difference is that we haven’t tried to enforce it. But it’s a lockdown. Some are tighter than others but that doesn’t stop it being a lockdown. There are laws restricting when you’re allowed to leave your house that didn’t exist before. That’s lockdown. That’s what it is.
I don’t think chihuahuas count as full dogs, but they are.
