That's quite a leap questioning his poor decision making to bring up his religion, sound like you have a chip on your shoulder there fletch.
Would you care to explain why you at best misunderstood what he said?

Not poor decision making by him though is it, if that is what he was told by the official body.

He's not alone if I'm honest!

at the risk of being called insensitive... deaths going through the roof, new cases rising dramatically, more key info coming out about the virus itself from Asia, key govt figures invisible and/or clearly struggling, Italy now questioning the future of the entire EU, and we are undoubtedly heading into one of the nastiest & most critical situations we’ve been in decades- arguably since 1945.... but most of the news seems to be “Boris now able to sit up in bed”.

Yes I suppose given the date the risk would have been very low. It's just a hindsight thing that makes it seem so crazy.
It's not crazy, he was advised this by phe so that's what he told Londoners.

In fairness, as much as I disagree, that article is dated 3rd March when there were still very few cases in this country. The risk at that time was still probably pretty low and the advice from the government at the time was to carry on as normal.
It states in the article as well he was given this advise by phe

I’m sure Marty will be along shortly to confirm that he is mistaken... won’t he?

He made the comment on exactly the same day Boris made his infamous handshake comment that gets a lot of traction in this thread. Either both were stupid or both can use the excuse they were just going off expert advice at the time.

So what are we saying here? That experts often get it wrong? you should think of that everytime you mention experts in regards to Brexit.

What poor decision making. You’ve gone back to before the outbreak to complain about his saying it was safe when it was safe while ignoring the fact the people in charge of the whole country were at that point boasting about how they were shaking hands with patients.

As they’re both politicians saying the same thing I was just wondering why Sadiq Khan upset you so much. Your touchy reaction answers that for me, thanks.

It’s a good point and at least in ‘the media’ a lot of fingers are starting to point at these “experts”, who were already under scrutiny from other members of the scientific/ medical community anyway. But it does seem that they’re currently being lined up to take a huge portion of the blame for all the mistakes made.

Expert advice has never been to enter a hospitals full or virus patients and shake everyone’s hands. Ever.

Hmmm..... would agreed with you, but it depends that we knew at time that we should not be making direct physical contact with Coronavirus sufferers.

It's not necessarily that the experts got it wrong, it's more that there were only 39 cases in the whole country at the time. We were also told going to work and to large events like football matches was safe. Why just pick what Sadiq Khan was saying at that time? Why not pick out what all political leaders and advisors were saying?

I think one pertinent point for you is “don’t just read the headline” or you run the risk of looking silly.

And so they should be. I actually read something you posted yesterday and it was a good read. Fuck ups galore from the 'experts'.

As a leader of a major city, seeing cases grow, I would expect a bit of critical thinking, and seeing potential for large people to become infected.

Only one who mentioned his religion was you your clown.

We should criticise all people, from all political spectrums when they get it wrong. It is not just us and them, left and right.

If they get the advice wrong we should criticse all sides, whichever side they are on.

And the logical question is “who appointed these experts”, and from what I see & read that line most likely stops somewhere in the vicinity of Dominic Cummings, the real PM, who values ‘science’ and eugenics more than genuine experts in their own disciplines.

I have criticized many white politicians and experts as well over the handling off this outbreak, or am I only allowed to mention a brown politician if I mention a white one at the same time?

The Boris handshake got so much traction because when people were speculating that might be how he caught the virus people were saying it didn't happen despite video evidence.
The way (I think Chris Whitty) stepped in at the press conference would also suggest the PM was not adhering to what he'd been told.

Thats just guess work though, you would like to think the people employed to advise on this kind of thing are people are the top of their field, which is worrying if this is the best we have to offer, but still.

No, you’re supposed to have actual criticism and not shit ripped straight from the Britain First FB feed.

Also worth pointing out that the NHS also has a disproportionately high number of BAME staff, especially true of doctors and nurses. In fact when you think about it of all the pictures they’ve shown of doctors who have come out of retirement to help the NHS, caught Coronavirus and then subsequently died I’m struggling to remember seeing a picture of a white doctor being amongst them. I think they announced another death of a retired doctor coming out retirement yesterday and he was from Sri Lanka originally. Maybe the Lurker should be looking for these stories and then having a long hard think about his life.
