Haven't posted in here for over a week as I got a bit bored with all the bickering.

But a while back a certain poster, username begins with G, said that the charts I was posting were a load of rubbish because:

1) the scale is wrong
2) the chart was being manufactured to make a false point - that we were tracking the same as Italy. Apparently we were doing much better than them.

Well guess what.

1) the government's own charts in their daily press conferences use the same scale
2) we are tracking very closely to Italy - but worse

Apology accepted Grendel.

Again as I said to you at the start the start the constant evaluation of deaths across countries is not accurate and we now know this is indeed the case

Nice try though

Still think we're doing better than Italy?

Still think we won't have it as bad as Italy because their cases were mostly concentrated in a few areas?

Still think the government's response was acceptable when despite having a two week 'headstart' we're going to have it worse than Italy?

Still think we're doing better than Italy? Give it 10 days and we’ll know.

Still think we won't have it as bad as Italy because their cases were mostly concentrated in a few areas? Liverpool, Midlands, London.

Still think the government's response was acceptable when despite having a two week 'headstart' we're going to have it worse than.

But tell me Labour would have done better...

The deaths in italy are hugely understated as per the FT article the other day so if we need to use words like better then yes

What the hell is this drivel?

We're in a worse state than Italy were at this stage.

You've completely missed my point on the second point.

What the hell does Labour have to do with the government's response?

Too early to say with high confidence, we know U.K. deaths understated also, trends useful. He’s right about the graph, the people who spent days slating it were wrong to do so, it’s visually really excellent and has enough data now to capture trends and compare countries very well. As for labour, no clue, likely not, then again maybe- relevant how?

hangover incoming tomorrow, going to self isolate from everyone and everything

You need identical methods to evaluate countries and there is no constant method. Spain is higher as they’ve attempted to account for non hospital deaths, italy as one example had 5,000 deaths in March vs 99 last March and attributed just over 2,000 to the virus.

Germany do not count all hospital deaths if they have not been pm’d

France have admitted they are guessing non hospital deaths and it’s likely to be far more

China is a rogue number and so will Russia be

It’s a data set designed up create a result and the data going into the graph on deaths is not accurate and far from consistent

That may be true but the accuracy of our own figures isn't guaranteed either

I'm sure I read that if you've displayed symptoms related to Corona and you haven't been tested but have died, it's logged as a Coronavirus death. The same article stated that there has been an unusually low flu death rate this year too.

I'm not sure if this is true or not.

i don’t know if I’m seeing things but I’m sure they’re saying that there are rumours of a military coup in Brazil as as result of what their mad president is doing on coronavirus.. the whole world’s gone (even more) nuts

Think I'm at day 4 or 5 at the moment.

I have flu like symptoms like what hill83 has already described.

I've already stocked up for an emergency with flu and paracetamol capsules.

Quite worryingly though, I am now almost half way through my emergency bottle of vodka and down to my last two lemons.

Think I may report in over the phone with my GP on Monday just as a precautionary measure because I'm in the camp with underlying health conditions but all in all it hasn't affected me too bad.

Interesting stuff.

I will have a look around the internet for this.

Of course it’s not, a lack of time and resources stops them from being fully accurate in all countries with overstretched resources. However, there are also going to be more non-Coronavirus deaths as these people will not get the same level of care due to over-stretched systems and resources.

There are also those whose deaths were not actually caused by the virus having it attributed to it as well.

The reporting stil gives us a strong overall indication of what is happening though and the direction in which a particular country is heading.

The good news from here is that the strict lockdown measures appear to have been a success in terms of halting the rampant spread and ICU is finally being eased.

Currently it’s due to run until 13th April but it looks like it will be May before phase 2 kicks in and some of the restrictions are lifted.

We are now going into average British summertime temperatures, so it should also give some kind of indication of what happens in raised temperatures for those hoping some warmer weather would have an impact.

PFA claims players shouldn't take a wage cut or deferral as loss of tax income would be damaging for NHS.
Anyone believe high earners are paying full tax? Or that the charitable donations suggested won't be a tax write-off?

Ahem. , Your point.....you missed the point. Their is supposed to be a dialogue.

Not a fucking exam with you ticking the boxes.
The point being that we already have red hot areas of contagion.

But if the deduction in wages is cover the costs of non football staff it us cost neutral as any tax lost will be covered by the money the government doesn't have to spend paying for the furloughed staff.

As a trade unionist the pfa are being stupid here.

There's a fruit and veg shop on my street that has stayed open, I guess it is a kind of market, but it is an essential service, so is allowed. Bizarrely there was a bar that suddenly started selling bread but that got shutdown within a couple of days with the regular drinkers outside of the pavement. It is probably the local version of the Tudor Rose.
Actually it is probably worse.

Had a row with the Mrs about this this morning.

We moved in with her parents and younger brother 6 weeks back to save towards a mortgage instead of renting, and anyway, We've got a massive garden, so as the weather is class we were gonna do a mini barbecue.

Just us that live in the household..

She starts whinging about peoples 'opinions'and 'should we be doing it'

Far as I'm concerned we could have a fucking firework display in the garden as long as its just members of the household or am i talking shit? Started to make me doubt myself now.
