Employment law not my strong point...
Hopefully when this is all over one of the things that will come out of it is a look at how employees are treated and how one sided things can be.

I know you changed to a fixed term position but the number of people who aren't considered permanent employess and have been left to sort themselves out in this mess should be a bit of a wake up call. You've got huge industries where it seems technically nobody is actually employed!

Am I getting it right that there is a small outbreak in Wuhan again and it's reverted to strict lockdown?

Already had some good advice privately from 3 forum members this morning which has put me in a more positive frame of mind. Going to start a thread on that at some point as this place truly can be a great place.

Bad to subject...I've got 3 months furlough to look into it. Need to get through today first...could be emosh! 10 years...such a massive part of my life. Even met the wife here when I started!

Let's do this...

You could also request to have your redundancy transferred if your skillset is more valuable to the company than other individuals. As an an analogy, employee a) David Speedie is being made redundant essentially to free up expenses. However, the company have not considered that David is a more qualified asset and may consider another role if it is proven he is more worthwhile than employee b) Julian Darby.

Not sure my company has really understood how furlough is supposed to work. Today is suppsoed to be my last day but apparently I should keep checking emails, attending team meetings, updating documentation, doing training etc. The only thing I can't do is contact our customers.

your company will have a very serious problem if that’s their official advice, whatever money they get will have to be handed back in its entirety if all furloughed workers are working. I’d raise the flag to them pretty quickly

This is wrong, furlough is essentially compensation from the government to prevent you from taking on duties. Essentially, your company should not be ‘profiteering’ from a scheme that is being underwritten by someone else.

Yeah as with all countries they need to be careful when they lift the lockdown because realistically people will flock to each other like bees to honey.
They’ve been speaking about that here and how the restrictions will be lifted gradually over a period of 1.5 months approx- I think the current aim is to get everything back to some kind of normality by early June.

Yeah. When I was furloughed HR mailed me and made it clear I cannot partake in any work for the company at any plant.
Was supposed to be working on something with another plant in about 10 days time. They've told me I can't do that now and can't even get involved in any conference calls.

Definitely one of the conditions is that you perform no work but I doubt there will be any checking up so I’m sure they’ll get away with it!

Fair play mate, how many tests are Italy doing/were doing in comparison to the UK?

It’s a massive rod for his own back. I’d have just said 50k if it was me !
Remember, Matt Hancock is the MP for West Suffolk (which covers Newmarket) and during the election campaign he was going to push for improvements to the A&E department at Newmarket hospital - there isn't an A&E department at Newmarket hospital and also increase the number of police at the police station there. The police station in Newmarket closed 2 years ago.

Weren’t they ordered, which could be cancelled. There is an element here of damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Caught a bit of the bloke saying yesterday that he wont sort tests until he knows they fully work as the one they tested got 3 out of 4 wrong so would have been dangerous.

People are shouting they want tests here and now but then shouting that they don't work.

It is quite funny when you have no political bias watching it.

The numbers aren’t incorrect.

Yes they are as all countries have different ways of measuring who has died. Also France yesterday added over 800 deaths and there is no way of knowing when they actually occurred

Definitely not looking good. Whole comment thread on Twitter is worth a read.

Is that your angle now the government, News night and various others have moved to log graphs because of the numbers?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No it’s my angle based off the FT article which I posted last night which shows many more have died in some countries and the fact a France government official confirmed they can’t accurately measure deaths away from the hospital

This is not the same graph he originally created is it?

I don't have political bias, I hate them all- far as I'm concerned if you're in charge the buck stops with you, and if you fuck up you're the ones accountable. I hate the "labour would have done this" stuff as I don't even know who is in Labour these days, and its irrelevant.

Would be like if Mark Robins took us back to League two losing every game and people were saying "yeah but its Andy Thorn's fault", "Mowbray would have been even worse"- meaningless, they are in charge so they need to be held fucking accountable.

He issues a range of graphs every day covering a variety of areas, there are a lot of variables. The original graph is up there in its glory every day- log scale was always the best way and still is.

From his interview this morning we're ordering a million from China .
He's been chatting shit and contradicting himself for a month now , that deserves to be called out.
