It's good, but having trusts need to rack up debts to stay running is a scandal in the first place. I assume also that these were debts to outside sources - if they're actually govt held debts that's just terrible.
Not debts to outside sources. Trusts who spend more than their income have interest bearing loans from the Government. The interest and loan repayments make it more difficult to live within income, so more loans given. It’s not all loans that are being written off, only a certain type of loan. Most non foundation Trusts have loans. UHCW isn’t a foundation trust.

The whole charade is purely designed to make the government balance sheet look better, it serves no other useful purpose. Erm yeah we'll come up with a tariff regime that isn't enough to fund the cost of your services, we'll loan you the balance with interest. Oh, and here's a PFI hospital you'll have to find the money for over the next 30 years.

That’s it in a nutshell.

So many people are at it.

Have to try and outdo each other for likes
Well West Midlands Police sent about 10 cars and their helicopter to Walsgrave hospital tonight so a few bangers isn't going to win it.
A very Nice use of resources. Anyone got an idea on how much it costs to get the helicoptor in the air?

I saw there's starting to be some civil unrest in Italy, (you might tell me that's bollocks), but if its true, how long can the lock down hold before people really lose it?
There was some in Sicily which has a lot of off the books cash in hand work so people couldn’t claim government funded wages while they’re laid off. Since then millions have been allocated for food vouchers for those in need.
I think it’ll go on until May but it’ll hold until then, overall it’s being respected very well now.

Graph guy just updated for today’s figures, doesn’t make for good reading unfortunately

How is that showing the 1,300 recorded deaths on France today?

The article quoted a place called Bergamo where 900 died in March last year. This year 5,040 died but only 2,060 in the Coronavirus stats. In one care home alone over 50 died but none included in the stats

Funny how 3 years ago they cheered when rejecting a pay rise for nurses, then last year they told the NHS there was no magic money tree, and yet now that they’re in the shit up to their necks they miraculously have £13bn to fiddle around with.

The way deaths are reported is inconsistent everywhere it seems which doesn’t give a clear picture of what’s going on.

Yeah if people were actually genuine about showing gratitude to the NHS they wouldn’t go and vote for the party that openly cheered as nurses were rejected a payrise.

Really?? What the fuck.

The NHS staff don't want people clapping to make themselves feel better or get likes on social media they want PPE and testing. They want to not need food banks.

Its so pretentious.

It seems that their prime minister has been taking lessons from North Korea and as soon as he got involved it miraculously started to suddenly go down.
They're always so insular when it suits them and they need to learn that they can't get away with it. If they want the openness with travel and trade then they really need to toe the line with their less reasonable behaviour at home. The pandemic could have been controlled and monitored so much better by the rest of the world had they let everyone know, but no, they decide to go all 1950's communist state again and it fucks everyone over.

I would tentatively suggest that the only thing anyone can say for sure is that the actual figures- whether it be cases, deaths or recoveries- are significantly larger than the reported numbers.
