I’m happy to criticise them, just not overly keen on the whole Cultural Supremacy stuff, that’s all.
A few people above have defended the animal cruelty as 'part of their culture'. If that is indeed part of their culture, then yes our culture and many others are superior. I make no apologies for having that opinion regardless of how uncomfortable it seems to make some of you feel.

It’s a guardian article. Interesting it suggests France are lying about the amount if deaths

It doesn’t suggest France are lying about deaths it says they don’t include care home deaths. If that’s their methodology and known then it seems to be the opposite of lying?

Maybe you shouldn’t be criticising European countries for the way they’ve handled the crises. Seeing as you’ll allow no criticism of our government and that you ridiculed those countries for going into lockdown last week when we followed days later.

Everyone is Lying about death numbers etc 100%
And infection rates. Given that Korea has proven beyond a shadow of doubt that the best way to contain the virus is test test test to identify those that have it we’re very reluctant to entertain the idea. If I was being sceptical I’d say that the government are doing it deliberately to manipulate the figures, although it’s not like we can say that they’re sitting on information like the number of cases that are critical to back up that scepticism. Oh, wait...

If this has already been mentioned then I apologise for a repost but this thread moves fast.

I see the crazy fuck of the year award has gone beyond Trump to another candidate, the president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro.

A lovely piece of work here who has prioritised the economy over the welfare of a proportion of the population.

Brazil's Bolsonaro in denial and out on a limb

yep. Everywhere else had it all wrong and we were way out in a league of our own in terms of advanced scientific theories with our infamous “herd immunity”, and “letting it run its course through the country and taking it on the chin”.

How do you even begin to try and get inside this guy’s mind?

Most people don’t give a shit about battery and intensive farming for meat in Europe, which is definitely cruel. There are also those within the current government who would repeal the ban on fox hunting tomorrow.

Didn’t a poster on here describe the situation as “social media hyperbole”? Trying to recall his name, G something...

Regardless of what happens Brexit will most certainly be delayed.

I hadn’t even thought about brexit but yes you’re right. I saw some paper on twitter where the govt has refused to move the deadline even after people had started dying, but that was a week or so ago now (I think, losing track of what day it is), surely things have moved on since then

I do, it's wrong. All farm animals should be free range. Not that I can do much other than sign petitions, but at least I do that.

you know you’re right. China, U.K., EU, USA- I’m not convinced any of these bodies are renowned for their absolute truthfulness. So people need to get down out of their ivory towers and when this is over start to demand serious changes to how we all live our lives.
They know we’re soft mate we don’t have the numbers to make a difference

I refuse to eat it. But I’m not at all comfortable telling other people what to eat.. but I will say that the world would be a better place if consumption of meat was a bit less off the charts than it is now.

Or stop eating meat!
I've cut down massively but totally abstaining? Not sure I can do it!

I don’t think the world becoming vegan or vegetarian is necessary, it’s the mass/ over production and consumption that’s the issue, and what drives the lack of sanitation and checks. I can do it because I genuinely never liked meat anyway, it’s easy, but I wouldn’t be demanding the world completely stops eating meat.

This is it, consumption levels of meat are ridiculous and way above what’s necessary because it’s historically linked to being wealthy.

Like Clint says below, it’s difficult to abstain but just cut down. If everyone reduced their meat consumption to about a third the environment would be a lot easier to manage and we’d all have some spare cash and likely better health.

Seen some stuff on Twitter about Italian discontent with the EU

Is that just social media bollocks mate?
Salvini and another fascist have been going on about it in recent days to get themselves in the media. In reality he has had to drop it as part of his manifesto as he admitted its a vote loser, he is always desperate to be in the limelight. It’s not going to happen.

No it will be a race straight back into the feeding frenzy.

Crispin Odey (google him) has already made many millions from shorting the market in the last couple of weeks, in a new macabre variation of his well trodden disaster capitalism philosophies.

It's cheap food at all costs.
Maybe if the Economists didn't drive everyone to overpay for the roof over their heads food production could more humane .
Another Thatcher driven ideology fueling gross speculation on a human necessity.

Why do people have to lie about what the government says or advisors say? Dr Harries clarified what she said, that the 3 to 6 month period would be when they know how much effect the restriction measures would gave.

I don't know if Brexit will be delayed to be honest.

I think the European Union will be more affected by what's going on then the UK.

Who knows what's going to happen In a few months.

I would imagine it would be harder to control a virus on mainland Europe then it would be on an island.

next time you can get into a supermarket take a look at the meat content of 90% “meat” products- hardly any of them will be over 70%- if you’re lucky. They’ll be pumped up with additives & general sludge. I read that 70% world meat production goes into utter shit that has zero nutritional benefit whatsoever- nuggets and garbage like that. The food we are eating is as deadly as this virus, it just acts more slowly.

If you want good quality meat then you pay silly money- people can’t afford it. So they buy the processed shit and then you end up with a very sick, obese population and we proceed to wreck the planet by producing millions of tons of shit food every day. And then we end up letting loose a lethal disease purely due to how we are living, and we have a big proportion of people that can’t survive it due to diabetes/ cancer etc which in some cases have been directly caused by what they have to eat because they can’t afford to eat properly. It’s a very vicious cycle and I do not think I am exaggerating in saying that it will kill every single one of us unless fundamental worldwide changes take place.

Each pandemic is getting worse- check the stats. What do we do next time?

Is he the guy who’s Ferage’s mate that made millions betting against the pound while Ferage was telling the world that remain had won when he already knew a lot of the exit polls were suggesting otherwise?

So it’s at least 3-6 months possibly longer? I didn’t see it I’m just trying to clarify how it should be interpreted.
