They have never said it only effects the elderly. Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance said this at a recent press conference (it could have been the academy of medical science one). They said it can but young healthy people in critical care but the mortality rate for the elderly is far higher.
That said anyone who thinks it's just the flu is a spoon.
What really worries me is that there are 1965 cases in London alone and yet the peocks are still gathering in massive numbers.

its some fucking shit state of affairs when you feel a modicum of ‘relief’ that someone in the prime of their life who has died had underlying health conditions. as the cases increase there is more info out there on what this virus can do, there are some horrific videos being put out and that’s only gonna get worse, some self isolation from social media might be a prudent idea, no doubting the seriousness but not sure being blasted with that all day is gonna help anyone.
