Abbott believe me is a horrible piece of work. An arrogant sneering elitist snob - she is an appalling person

and I don't doubt you've based that on your opinion of her as a person. Plenty of the stick she receives has its base in racism.
I'm sure some that patel receives does as well, but most of us just think she's an appalling human being.
I would say the dame about IDS.

Been done before but there is seriously deep rooted, insidious & almost subconscious racism in the country which comes to the fore whenever the right don’t like someone, the venom is increased exponentially.

As for Patel, she should have stayed sacked when she met up with the other country, couldn’t give a fuck what ethnicity she is but would be more worried about her being duplicitous & incompetent.

The same reason Raheem Sterling is a dangerous & sinister terrible role model, and Wayne Rooney/ Gazza are loveable Great British institutions.

thought we'd moved passed that a bit after that maggot kelvin mckenzie had the light shone on him for his racist diatribe against Ross Barclay but the way Sterling was treated showed that that was very naive of me.

It’s just the same. In fairness I also notice that the group who hate that stuff is also getting bigger, with nobody left in the middle- as with everything else in our deeply fractured society you have the “liberals” on one side sneering at how they should be able to say & do what they want as it’s ‘our country’, and the “lefties” on the other who get called snowflakes for calling out the racism.

I see Rishi Sunak is getting a lot of praise from the left, it's almost as if they're judging politicians on merit and the Mail is using the article linked to weaponise racism to deflect from what an absolute horrible piece of work patel is.
And the left never weaponise racism? Give me a break.

not sure what you mean about that, but when it comes to racism I’m not sure why it’s a matter of left or right, it’s more a matter of either being a decent human being or a disgusting twat.

Standard lefty tactic...
1. Be lefty
2. Call everyone you disagree with racist in an attempt to discredit them.
3. Lose election.
4. Repeat.
Keep up the good work...

except you're wrong.
Grendel linked an article and slated Dianne Abbott. I argued why I thought the article was wrong and said I didn't think his criticism of Abbott was racist.
You're having a mare mate, call it a night.

A lot of it is.

but you’ll disagree as you’re in one of the groups I mentioned above. Not going well for you, this one- I’ll leave you to it

some criticism of Abbott is clearly rooted in racism.
Why did you use the example of her wearing two left shoes rather than Phillip Hammond getting his HS2 figures wrong by 20 billion, or Dominic Raab not knowing that Dover was an important port or Chris Grayling awarding a ferry contract to a company with no ferries.
I'm sure you've got a good reason.

In your mind it is, it doesn't make it so I'm afraid.

Me too. Saw it on the news earlier. This is what the people in the boozers, acting like it’s nothing, aren’t getting. Italy has a great healthcare system by all accounts (sick boy also confirmed) and Switzerland said a few days back that its healthcare system could be on its knees in 10 days....yet people are still blasé about it ?! These aren’t third world nations. It’s coming, I just hope that due to demographics, the fact we are (were) slightly behind and how it may have spread differently, it spares us more than poor Italy (but I could well be clutching at straws)

let’s also hope everyone just tries to do their bit to protect those at most at risk by following government guidelines

Day 9 of being ill, called 111 and told I’m highly likely to have it but as it’s mild, need to get through it. It’s proper shit!

Sorry to hear that mate.

However, it is only when more stories like this come out where people you know are getting it that the penny will finally drop and people will start listening to the advice and stop being dicks.

Hope you feel better soon.

Keep plodding through it. It might help if you described some of your symptoms. The suggestion what it is mild is the bit where people get confused.

If you have other examples then fair play, I've not heard of any. Do you seriously believe white, right wing politicians don't recieve their fair share of ridicule? If so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

It’s strange that Hammond was able to get figures wrong by billions as chancellor and doesn’t receive the same level of ridicule.

Unfortunately, and I’m sorry to say, I think you’re clutching at straws to think that Britain won’t be impacted in the same way, if not worse.

The severity of the situation won’t dawn on people until it’s too late, it’s being going on on the country’s doorstep, there will be major regrets and anger over the inaction and the blasé attitude towards it.

Lockdown there is inevitable and should have been done already.

Yeah good luck Stu, but FF's suggestion of you posting your timeline of symptoms might put some of the myths to bed.
For instance - does it come with a sore throat (without a cough), runny nose, sneezing, headache? Those are associated with a cold/flu, so would be helpful to know the difference.

The borders were open for so long, quite possibly still are, what the hell were they thinking? As soon as this is over, Boris and his cronies need to stand down, been incompetent from day one.

I agree with Trump, this should be called the China virus, if they tried to stop it instead of trying to cover it up, we would not be in this position. Now the CCP are playing silly buggers with the Americans by with holding medical supplies, I hope nobody in the west deals with them in the future.

There’s been talk here recently about banning people from Britain entering the EU due to the inaction being taken, don’t disagree with it myself.

Italy need to do right by their people, fully support closing the borders too countries who are taking an inappropriate response to this.

I'm really pissed off with our MD, we drew up a plan on Thursday to start working at home from Monday, however yesterday it was overruled by the MD and has told people to continue to come into work, he keeps saying this isn't a holiday.
