Yep completely...... not even the slightest nod of recognition when actually these promotions and relegations are massive as you go down the leagues. The move from non league to league is a game changer for clubs and the decision in the top league will have an impact...... but you would hardly know it !!! The more detailed commentary and Conversation still just stops with Leeds and WBA
Because football doesn't exist outside the PL as far as most of the media is concerned.

For games to be played behind closed doors we are talking about not many more people being present than the players and staff, with some light security. The chance of infection would be extremely low and I would again reiterate that few League 1 players have even self isolated, never mind been infected. In those who have recovered and are still short of their previous lung capacity, we don't know if that is permanent or not but if pneumonia is anything to go by, it will at most take a period of months to get that back rather than being permanent.

What is most important is that we keep the most at-risk out of harm's way.

Also some evidence of infertility as well. We really don’t know the long term impacts here to be fair.

I think unless they can complete the season they are going to be up their ass with legal claims, teams which have spent beyond their means in the championship to get up will also be in trouble with no playoff spaces. I’ve got nothing against Norwich etc but they have simply not been good enough for the league but potentially get a free pass over the expense of a Forest or Fulham who would miss out via the missing playoff spot.
For us, I think it was the one and only bite of the cherry to get up, we simply wouldn't have the team and form next year if we were stuck in league one nevermind the major morale hit that would take. If they promoted all top 2 teams ‘as is’ this would certainly put an interesting slant on the championship as no relegation teams with shit loads of cash so a team in form could have a shout. Time will tell I guess but I think we will get fucked over

I think what pisses me off is that all this discussion is purely around Liverpool and no other teams, technically they are the easiest to sort as it has no impact on any other team. CL spots are still up for grabs, relegation places all worth 100m a piece. Just worried that league one and two will get lost in this Melee and probably the biggest impact financially. The OP is a sensible option if this works down the leagues but my preference is to finish the league
League One is not getting a mention.

It's all Liverpool and little bits about Leeds. Stuff everyone else.

Looks like this maybe the solution That is the Chilean solution which is a set precedent those in auto places go up nobody is relegated and next season there are more relegation places to reduce the numbers

Don’t know what pubs you go to I’ve seen no decline
I’m definitely starting to see one now.
Very worrying tbh ‘and if we eventually progress to a lockdown situation, without
Outside help and assistance it’ll be game over for many.

What is the situation with Rugby Union? Are their leagues suspended or is the season over? Could really hit Wasps hard hopefully. Not sure about Cov?

It’s going to cause them a lot of sleepless nights

reported that English Premiership will be suspended this week.
Coronavirus: English rugby union's Premiership set to suspend season
I wonder if this will concentrate minds a little bit. The stadium and associated parts with little or no income, hotel, exhibition halls with no clients, the casino feeling the pinch and perhaps wanting a relaxation of rent. The overheads of keeping all of the stadium areas going. Maybe the lure of a, hopefully, championship team paying rent and bringing other income will make them think more seriously of what they are missing.

I still cannot see why after April 3rd games can’t be played behind closed doors, so long as all players or even the majority are virus free. It’s only 10 games ffs! after the Easter fixtures three games a week season finished early May.
They'd not be paying parachute payments to 3 relegated teams so would retrieve £165 million of it that way.
Never thought of that.

They could play all the games behind closed doors and then leave final match of season till June/July. When it's all hopefully cleared, so all fans can celebrate lifting the trophy (hopefully us)

Good point. I dare say they would have to put something in place to have smaller payments the following season, if 5 were to go down.

I think this will happen - clubs get all players and staff tested and assuming all are clear (this is likely) the games are all played behind closed doors every Tue & Sat - 2 games a week until the fixtures are concluded - all streamed on ifollow.

People will be so desperate for games by then, I think there will be a real clammer for such a notion and it will be warmly embraced. Just make sure every game is available for fans to watch.

Difference is, they could just award Celtic the league title every season before a ball has even been kicked.

Does anyone really believe another ball will be kicked this season ?
The way things are going can we even be sure they will kick off on time next season.

I think our only hope now is that common sense prevails,
no relegation from any league,
Liverpool crowned champions.
Top 4 for CL purposes ‘as is’
Top 2 from Championship promoted.
Top 2 from League 1 promoted.
Top 2 from League 2 promoted.

Surely that would be the fairest way to conclude it.
I’ll not hold my breath though :emoji_thinking: I need all the breaths I’ve got.

No we won’t play again

It's the most Cov thing ever to be running away with the league and have it all cancelled. Surely they can't take it away from us with so few games left. Promote as is, put it through some supercomputer, do anything but cancel it. Honestly, that would lead to me having a serious think if I'd ever come back.

Has to be the most sensible and fairest solution.

This looks like a good solution, but in League 2 they due to promote 3 teams automatically this year.

Is that a 22 team League 2 next season? Otherwise you'd need to play with two teams less out of the very bottom league to make up the difference.

Then it would have to be , it’s an unprecedented situation and I just can’t think of a
Fairer way, we are on the homestretch as far as the league is concerned so surely
It’s only fair that the teams occupying the auto slots go up.
I think to relegate any team would be unfair as they could argue they were going to
Fight their way out of it, how many times have we done it.
To void the whole thing as though 30 + games never happened can’t be the right way
To go ‘can it.
