22 Premier League next season (1 Viewer)

In the press across various sites. 22 team premier league next season. There’s no way any football will recommence in 3 weeks as the peak is coming in May/June.

Three potential scenarios
If the season is not completed then these are some of the possible scenarios:

  • Give the title to Liverpool and have no relegation this season. Next season there would be 22 teams in the Premier League - with West Brom and Leeds.
  • The season is declared null and void and start next season with the same 20 teams - unlikely, especially because Liverpool are 25 points clear at the top of the table and have all but won their first title for 30 years.
  • The table as it stands now is the final table - unlikely, because it would be unfair to relegate Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich after only 29 matchdays.

So we would be awarded the title then!!??

It says 'possible.'

It's just one solution, but only really works for the Premier League

They are looking 5 teams to be relegated from the 20/21 season. This would hopefully be replicated down the leagues otherwise it’s unfair on L1 and L2 .So this season nobody gets relegated.

Buderlsliga are also considering this.

Don't see it being null and voided.
Not just promotion and relegation but also the PL prize and TV money would be an issue.
Then you've got the issue of European places which again has big money attached.

Could work, if relegation from all leagues are scrapped but promotion allowed it might be the fairer way to go. I know it would benefit us but we are were we are, top. It might mean having extra teams in each division for a season but that can be compensated by having no League cup or EFL cup and perhaps four teams relegated from each division for two seasons, the main problem would be the third place promotion spot and how that’s decided.

My worry is they only make this a deal between the PL and Champ. However, there would be uproar down the football pyramid if it isn’t replicated.
What could we do!!!???? There would be legal challenges... but nothing would come iof it.

What's the fuss. The Euros are cancelled, football hopefully will resume in 4/5 weeks time. Extend the season till all league games have finished. Even if it is extended till end of june middle of July players could still have time off. If needed, extend next season by a couple of weeks. Cancel the overseas friendly/tours and play local teams that will need the money.

Having no relegation throughout means nobody gets unfairly penalised and end up worse off. Promotions can still happen and positions covered by points per ratio of games not ideal but I can’t see any other fair way.
The only difference it would make is the EFL would increase from 72 to 74 clubs.

Knew West Ham would be the first club to want the season null and voided. Brady in the Sun spouting off.
Bet they still demand full TV money etc. Also be running to court if BT and Sky say they're not paying all the money as haven't had required number of live games.

Yup, they were saying yesterday we could play in June if need be.

It would benefit us short term but would also make staying up next season really tough if 5/6 teams were relegated.

My real worry is they are actually saying only the top 2 from from the Champ would go up. Enlarge the PL for a season and the Football League stays as it is. So no promotions from L1 and L2 etc.

This wouldn’t surprise me.... all about the money!!!!

They realistically can’t just cancel the season without some tinkering as they will have to promote a team from league two to get league 1 back to 24 clubs

If they didn’t promote us they are denying us the chance to get into the premiership in 20/21. Sisu would need to bring their A game.
I would imagine legal Action from lots of different clubs if they did that...worrying this is I don’t think they even have a plan past this 3 week suspension

This is the FA & EFL we talking about G I don’t think they know what their doing themselves were talking about people who make the rules up as they go along

That won’t happen it would mean the Championship operating two teams short.
From our point of view the biggest thing in our favour is Liverpool, should footie be unable to continue after April 3rd whatever decision is taken regarding how the winners of the Premiership is decided that would cascade down the pyramid. At the moment I’m comfortable with our position.
I think the no relegation option could happen if things can’t continue after April the 3rd.

I could see that promotion scenario happening...but the Playoff teams would kick up a huge fuss so it might be amended so that the playoffs take place behind-closed-doors in a one week span once all teams are healthy.

Brady doesn't represent most West Ham fans
The vast majority despise her and see her for what she is
They will be up in arms over this

I think we all know deep down that we aren’t going to see anymore football this season. In 3 weeks the situation will be worse than now. This gives the FA, PL and EFL to agree the contingency plan for the season ending.

If we simply run out of time to finish this season before starting next season and the decision is to void promotion / relegation. At the very least, next season should start with a points handicap based on the current standings.

Accept no 'solution' which fails to answer the simple question
Why can't the season be completed?

Unless the world ends football will resume one day so simply pick up where we hit pause. We will never 'run out of time'.
No other solution is acceptable to me.
That's what I was hearing yesterday. They can finish the season in June if need be.

There’s no chance of it starting in 4 or 5 weeks.
