Has been mentioned in dispatch’s in other posts (and now another) but wouldn’t be good enough to get into our team now would he?

Look at our league positions with Jordan Willis in the team.

Now look at where we are without him and Calamity Burge.

He’d fit in well. Last season, he was one of the best L1 defenders and is currently playing in the 2nd best defence in the league. He’s a good defender.

The direct comparison is with McFadzean. He offers something different, he’s a lot more dominant in defence and has greater leadership qualities than Willis. Something our defence lacked last season at times.

The recruitment team deserve a lot of credit for bringing in Rose and McFadzean who have filled in a big loss on Willis.

Above average L1 defender but not good enough for our current side. Not the best aerially & nowhere near good enough on the ball for the system we play. His pace would be a useful asset but I think Pask could be more than good enough to step up when required.

Willis is happy where he is, playing for a massive club and looking forward to next season in massive league one

Agreed. Back 3 of Willis, Rose and Hyam would be too samey, McFadzean adds that dominance we’ve been missing for a few years. He’s still a very good L1 defender. Might just sneak in ahead of Rose for me but not a lot in it really

They may have to sell him, as their parachute payments are finishing.

Well I think Willis is a great player with lots of pace and technical skills. He wouldn't get into a winning team right now - but if he were here at the start of the season I'm sure he'd be playing over Rose or Hyam. McFadzeen is a different kind of player entirely so there's no comparing.

For those claiming he has low technical ability - just think back to his goal in the Checkatrade final.

He chose to leave at the only point the club would get fuck all for him, all those years of development and letting him hone his skills in the first team we got zilch for. I have no sympathy that he isn’t enjoying himself up there.

Oh Jordan Willis, this could have been you.

Is he not enjoying himself up there? I hadn't seen that, what was said?

One could also argue that he stayed for a lot longer than he needed to, despite clearly being able to play at a higher level. He gets maybe 12 years, 15 tops, to make some money from his talent. Have a little empathy.

Unless in the event of injury, illness, suspension, obviously he wouldn't get into our Starting XI. We've got the best goals conceded record in the league so IMO our three CB's especially, are at this point undroppable.

I really liked Willis, thought he was one of our better places over recent seasons. I think in our current system he could play where Rose does, I'm not saying he would walk into that position but that's where I would have him. But then we have Pask who can do that and has pace similar to Willis also.

We brought in better than Willis but the big upgrade was replacing Davies. He was the poorest CB we had on the ball last year and Rose is miles better.

I don't think Davies was terrible on the ball, but take your point that Rose is an upgrade.

I'm a little surprised there hasn't been much reported interest in Hyam, could be his lack of pace that goes against him.

I didn't say he was terrible but he was the worst in my opinion compared to Willis and Hyam. I think Hyam is a better defender than Willis but doesmt have as much pace, same could be said for McFadz whichbis why I think this 3 CBs has worked a treat

I like Jordan Willis, Not as good with the ball at his feet as our current lot (bar the occasional McFaz gaffe) but would never knock the lad. Having seen some of the Sunderland fans thoughts on him, they think he is the best/most consistent of their bad bunch up there. They really don't like the rest of their defenders (except Bailey Wright, whose season got ended early on after signing in January)

Says it all. Second best defence in the league and they’re still not happy.

He's a good player and would add some pace to the back line but I don't think he's comfortable enough on the ball for the current system. The current back 3 are all better passers of the ball.

He's got a bit of a 50p head and sometimes just heads the ball into danger, did get a lot better last year though.

Good player and servant to the club. Could of left a couple of times before but stayed after we were relegated and helped bring us back up. Probably trebled his wages when he left. Who wouldn't change jobs for treble the wages. Good luck to him.
