Hadn't realised he'd openly defied the policy on promoting and acknowledging the work of alleged Communists during the Insane disgusting McCarthy era.
Only recently learned E G Robinson did similar but covertly I think .
Although he copped some flack afterwards, think it's alleged he profited from it.
Think that was harsh myself.
On Kirk ,that's a massive innings ,did play some Great roles

My dad really wants it to be Vera Lynn as he says she has done nothing since the war and yet lives a great life and seems to be regarded as just below the queen.

May mum rang me this morning asking if I had Kirk on the list and said get his wife on there

Bit left field but sadly Joseph Shabalala (ladysmith black mambazo). Loved their music when I was younger. Still goes on now and again in the car.

Awful news, she must have had so much going on we can never know, poor girl. Loved her in Fash FC, a real good laugh.

Sorry lads, I haven't got a clue who Caroline Flack is (was). If she was some sort of so-called celebrity / reality TV person, then she means nowt to me. I never watch them. Still. Sad though, eh?

Caroline Flack. Seemed to be having a few issues.

Quite sad really, taken her own life.
She had anger and probably all sorts off other attention seeking issues.... but ffs she needed help and support not a witch hunt

As someone who left/escaped a violent relationship and through help and support sees that woman blossom into a better person through professional help .... I deplore the treatment this woman had at the hands of the press.

She was treated badly but unfortunately it's a business that's predicated on the publics' thirst for celebrity train wrecks and unless people stop buying / clicking this shit, it'll never change.

Some very well educated people in the media are deliberately distorting celebrities lives and feeding them to an uneducated audience who lap it up and they are as much to blame as the press.

Then there's the whole cancel culture that goes hand in hand with it, which is usually the celeb obsessed arseholes feeding the media "stories" in a reversal of the usual pattern.

It's a toxic cycle ingrained in our society.

One of the things I've noticed from being an expat is this inexplicable UK obsession with all things celebrity. Eg. Never seen any of these "reality" shows but am always confused by how there are so many of these " celebrities" in the press who have no discernible talent.

The worst thing about celebrities these days is that most of them don't even have any talent and are only famous for being on reality TV.

The way they are celebrated for being stupid and vacuous is bound to have a knock on effect in society. People just want to be famous for the sake of being famous now. Talent isn't important as long as you're loud and act thick.

There's an obvious issue with these "instant celebs" having problems integrating back into society when their ten minutes is up too.

I ferkin' hate so-called celebs these days. As @fellatio_Martinez says, they are just talentless twats who want to appear on TV for their ten minutes of "fame". They are fucking pathetic! A celebrity to me, is someone who has worked at their profession for years and got to the top through their talent, like most good film stars or singers, such as Clint Eastwood, the late Kirk Douglas, John Lennon, Elvis etc, etc.. Not some twat that appeared on Big Bother (not a typo) or that pile of shite, Love Island!

Another victim of the modern cess pit celebrity society. Take average fame hungry individual build them up and knock them down savagely. From having a fling with a 17 year old to knocking someone about as they slept it was clear this was someone who needed help not persecution.

The fact that her passing is top headline news akin to a life long actor or sportsman says a lot

Ugly world
