Don't recall the title, but yes definately us. Fictional story was about a woman who's a really talented striker and ends up playing for QPR's first team. Thanks to her of course, QPR go on to win the FA Cup or the League.
Don't think it was a film but a TV drama.
In that light, wasn't there a series called The Manageress? Forget the name of the actress in question but she was a bit sweet

Football 'firm'' films are cringeworthy as fuck. The best football film I've ever seen is one night in turin. Docu about englands italia 90 exploits plus an insight into what it was like following football back then. Great film.

I'll add to the chorus of people saying The Damned United. Solid film.
If we're including TV, the first episode of the latest series of Inside No. 9 is set in a referees' dressing room on the last day of the season. Worth a watch, as always with those guys.

I think the worst part about them is when they try to recreate the lead up to a.goal or whatever and it just looks pathetically staged.
They've never figured out how to successfully act playing football well.

Great stuff. Series 2 has been made for a while now but Netflix don't seem in a rush to release it.
While we're on the subject of documentaries. The Four Year Plan is probably the best I've seen purely due to the madness that was taking place at QPR at the time.

See my post about "Dream Team" thought they did that fairly well. Actors that could play a bit, mixed in with decent non league players cut between real footage. Actually quite cleverly done....

Yes. Been around non league a bit. A very interesting watch.
A VERV difficult thing to do, going through the leagues. They are lucky they have had some top footballing minds and heavy financial backing. Even with this it wasn't a breeze....

I can't stand ANY film about ANY sport. They're all the same. Team struggling, new manager/player, turns team around, team wins cup. Boring! But, having said that, one film that I bloody loved (because it was based on true life and about the greatest manager of all time), was "The Damned United". I will always maintain Cloughie was the greatest manager England never had!

It was a weekly drama set in London, where some professionals ( might have been solicitors/ teachers ) shared a house together. 2 or 3 of them were cov fans and city got a mention most weeks or one of them usually wore a city shirt. I don't remember the lady footballer but I do remember the coverage of the loftus road game and the city fans belting out the sky blue song. Brilliant.
I've tried to find out what this series was called but googling it gets nothing.
