Sorry Baka (1 Viewer)

Well Bakayoko is 51st on the scoters list and Biamou 75

Playing the single striker role is in my view the hardest position on the pitch. Constantly battling two centre backs and trying to find space. Both of our strikers did their job yesterday and scored (strikers who have been abused and written off by some on here). I actually agree that Baka is not at his best in a lone striker role over 90 minutes but he has good qualities and has been very effective off the bench this season. Let’s simply support our strikers particularly after they both score in the same game.

Surely it's all about systems. The one we play scores and concedes less. Doesnt mean a striker can't score more in a different system or are therefore not good enough to play higher. Look at JCH, fairly unproductive here but scored with regularity at BR.

Does he? I started this and I don't abuse him or any player from the stands. Social media he has been, as have others, but I've not heard anything other than general moans and grumbles about him round by me.
Guy near me on Saturday mouthing off (loudly) that Baka was a piece of shit and the worst player he'd ever seen in a City shirt. And after he'd given us the lead after 2 minutes. Unbelievable.

Thought he had an excellent first half yesterday...possibly his best performance. Did great work in holding ball up and winning headers. Kept their back line on their toes. Without ever having sight of goal did a great job for the team

He was very good yesterday. As mentioned above he held the ball up well, won headers and brought others into play. His touch to lay it off for Allen to shoot was superb.

But yeah, the worst player ever to play for CCFC.

Oh yes of course, we let the worst player ever to wear the shirt play for us over 150 times, that makes sense.

Well i don’t suppose Marosi is a premier league standard keeper but the ability level between him and Burge is a yawning chasm so that suggests Burge is dire (which he was)

Thought Baka was really good last night.

Funnily enough my mate was complaining when we took him off, then his replacement scored.

Robin's masterclass.

Yeah there were people by me moaning about him, calling him useless etc.

Not sure what the lad has to do really. That touch to bring it out of the air on the turn and lay it off to Allen was very good.

He got us up the pitch a lot by pressuring their centre halves and forcing them to concede a throw in.

Against 2 very good centre backs won most headers too, brilliant how how got away from markers at atimes and at sometimes how hes a different wavelength to his teammates.

Gotta say i was dissapointed with Biamou how he came on waiting for something to happen, rather than making something happen his work rate wasnt great, bakas was exceptional.

I found it very strange that even last night some people gave biamou the same rating as baka despite him doing literally nothing at all when he came on as a sub.

Bizarre thought process

He had the beating of their centre halves in the channels every time. The one without the long hair was petrified most of the time.

For a big guy he didn't really like to get physical, he often just put it out for a throw rather than try and win a duel. Even when there were no other attackers anywhere near, was a good outlet for us.

He's a moron then and I can't believe those around him didn't tell him to shut the fk up. I certainly would have. Everyone is entitled to opinion but how they think shouting abuse from the stands at a player whist he's playing is either helpful or acceptable is beyond comprehension.

Great first half last night. Put himself about, won a decent amount of headers, brought others into play and he’s got a very good touch most of the time.

Didn’t see as much of the ball second half but the last few games I think he’s looked a different player and really stepped up (confidence !)

Haynes, Vincenti or Beavon surely

Harsh.

Haynes was a kid thrown in too early into a team in free fall and it completely destroyed his confidence. Doing well at his level now. Beavon and Vincenti had good careers but they were done by the time they made it to us.

So the 3 worst players in our 137 year history were all in the last 5 years? That's an unlikely occurrence. The reality is that the three you name were way better than some of the dross we've had (even in the last 5 years if that's when history starts). All had their good moments in skyblue.

Numerous candidates. I could throw in Yakubu, Darius Henderson, Andre Wright, Dan Agyei, Peter Ramage, Stephen Hunt and Josh Barrett, all in the last 5 years. The stuff of nightmares. There are probably many more who are best forgotten.

That’s a fair point but let’s not pretend that he wasn’t utter dog turd.

Pompey 18 goals from strikers. City 26.
Wycombe 16 goals from strikers. City 26.
Posh 40 goals from strikers. City 26.
Sunderland 11 goals from strikers. City 26.
Rotherham strikers have scored more.

So 2 of the top 6 have better scoring strikers.
To be fair to Grendel, he doesn't count Bakayoko or Biamou as strikers

I think it’s fair to say none of our strikers have performed as well as any of us would have liked, nor are they up there with the best strikers in this league. We’re just lucky enough to have a squad who will push for the win and goals can and will come from a large percentage of our team.
Makes you wonder how easy we’d have found this league had we bought a top striker who thrived in a lone role. If the three strikers’ work rate were indicative of the amount of goals they scored, we’d be flying. Unfortunately work rate alone doesn’t get goals.

This is why I love our fan base though. Third in the league, within touching distance of top spot with a game in hand, and we still want more/better.
