Question which not many may know the answer to- what proportion of their support actually comes from the City? I fucked off quite a few people who were from Cov when they turned insect, but that doesn't obviously represent their whole fanbase.

From what I can see they are worried about slipping attendances. They don't publish as many figures in rugby but based on what you can glean on the internet- as an 'elite club' they average about 17,000- but for their last European game they got 6,107 and their last home league game they got 12k.

It's not just Coventry where Wasps are having a negative impact. Their recent move to Warwickshire College's training pitches in Henley-in-Arden are also robbing a community of top quality facilities. Exactly what would have happened to Higgs if they had taken it over as a training base. Not to forget that they took over Broadstreet RFC's facilities.

They are experts at managing public perceptions, they don't want people to know and generally they don't.
That needs to change
Reputation/branding carries a lot of clout and I think so long as they keep providing things that some people in the community benefit from e.g. regional netball academies, that will distract people from their real priorities

It is... until they start telling you how they are the best thing to happen to the city in the last 50 years, and that we should just be glad of having a 'winning team' in the city, and denying anything to do with closing local facilities to the public, then go a mad banning spree. I'd estimate 30% are pretty decent and have their own questions about what they did, 20% are just rugby fans and have no interest in SISU/ Wasps and the rest are hardcore "we are angels and you are scum" type people. But two things that are pretty commonplace- first they are worried about sustainability with the decline in crowds & interest they are seeing (they were relieved as hell about Saracens taking the relegation place), and they are defensive about the EU case- albeit they reckon it could take 10 years to get any kind of decision there.
Right now the hot topic on there is that they just sacked their manager apparently.

Someone tweeted this & as I don’t live in Coventry I wondered if it’s more bullshit or is their a grain of truth to it.
It was in response to someone asking what benefit Wasps provided to the citizens of Coventry (other than buying the stadium).
They have provided jobs, set up numerous rugby initiatives around Cov and Warwickshire. Juniors, U23 team, medical, Cov College academy including degree opportunities. Given local juniors the chance of a rugby career, work with Cov RFC in defined areas. A proactive rugby club .

In the papers I see the Rugby Union governing body are talking about reducing the grant they give to their Championship and below clubs by 50%,which is going to have implications for clubs like Cov rugby.

They're advertising for an Operations Manager at ACL, no salary mentioned but the job spec seems to be entirely about planning and delivering cost savings. Not exactly attractive for a prospective employee.
