Sideshow over, main event nearing fever pitch - I haven't felt this good the morning after going out of the FA cup in such a long, long time.

Sorry but O’Hare’s effort for their first was poor

The second why is mason not tighter to him stopping the cross ?

It's sods law that we missed an absolute sitter in the 93rd minute in the first game and then two last minute goals cost us. Game should of been finished couple of good chances missed.

Mason at fault for both goals. He needs to stop both of the crosses from coming in

Still stand by O Hare should have put their player out for a throw in.

After the first stepover for their second Mason should have taken the booking. They were much more dangerous from their wingers getting the ball in play and putting crosses in than they were free kicks and corners.

A person I worked with is a brum fan, he told me there were rumours some of the fans behind the goal during the pens had laser pointers, nothing been mentioned so I assume this is buls*it, anyone else see anything?

It wouldn't surprise me to be honest, I didn't see a laser as such but they did all run round and put their phones on etc.

Absolutely re O’Hare...he is young and will learn from that ...but just put ball (or man, or man and ball) into the stand. Retire, line up, defend the throw/free kick.....win the game

Not sure....just before our first kick taken I did see a red light shine for a few seconds just right of the goal (as we watched) and about five rows back. Didn’t see it again afterwards.

I do think if we were playing premier league opposition the fans would have been pushed back. Double standards as usual. Such a shame as we could’ve done with the prize money and extra income. Hopefully we can push on in the league

I don't think at that point the ref gave a shit.

Their fans literally legged it round and were all stood against the ad boards behind the goal.

He done the same at Rotherham then was dropped he doesn’t get tight enough just stop the delivery

yes they did, a couple had red lasers and I pointed it out to a couple ofWMP's finest and the twats both just shrugged

Gutted can’t watch even with windscribe

Doesn't matter now - hopefully the extra rest before Ipswich away will result in players being fresh for that (far more) important game.

Agreed, one was clearly visible to right of goal (as we looked at it). Not sure if there were others.

Tuesday night's performance by Mason showed why Robins selects McCallum every time that he is fit and eligible. He offers far more physicality and attacking intent, is way better in the air, and is at least as good as Mason defending. It's a no brainer when playing with wingbacks. All of Mason's better games (early in season) were as part of a back four, whIch appears to suit him.

Yes no brainer, also offers potential of goals compared to Mason. His long throw also adds a dimension to his game.

The BBC had been blocking IPs from the one I use and was near impossible to connect, no recent problems though.
No one else to blame but ourselves for not going through.

Considering he hasn't played in weeks, I reckon he did ok in normal time but visibly tired in e/t, really we don't need to slate the guy just get behind the team/squad cos these guys are getting us out of L1.

Nobody's slating him. He is an ok full back. McCallum is on a different level, for all the reasons I mentioned.

people need perspective

1) Mason did ok.
2) Dabo did well going forward; defensively the Birmingham winger had him on toast repeatedly.
3) if Birmingham fans had been behind the goal from the start, the penalties would still have been taken there.

didn't mean you specifically mate but some on other threads giving him a right pasting, "should have stopped the cross, put him in touch, foul him and take the card" etc and some having a go at O'hare too

Funny thing is mason was having a great season early on. Then injured/dropped and Sam seized his chance and developed quickly. Many on here were insisting mason the better full back. Yet now mason played a game most are suggesting Sam the better. A funny old game.

I’ve always felt McCallum offers more and is the better player some said Mason is the better defender,Mason is far too small for me at left back although Tuesday he was not match sharp as he would of been if he had been playing regular I’ll add

But most impressive was Sam was in crowd with us all on Tuesday supporting team

Reminds me, Mason was incredible at Portsmouth away the last 20/30 mins when we were down to 10 then 9 men.

Was as brilliant defensive display I seen from a full back. The energy commitment and last ditch tackling was unbelievable.

Shows what he’s capable of when he’s fully fit. Really lucky to have Mason, still young enough to improve his game more.

No problem, agree there is no need for that. I should have added that Mason is a decent back-up and we are indeed lucky to have them both.

Also notable from Tuesday, Marosi finally got the message at halftime that pinging the ball at Mason's head was not working and thus he started going longer. One of his standard out-balls usually is to McCallum's head, which McCallum wins/controls more often than not. Just shows how using different personnel in the same position can have very different outcomes and force different patterns of play.
