Of the home matches we play 6 of the top 8 and 7 of the top half

Portsmouth
Rotherham
Oxford
Sunderland
Wycombe
Peterborough

And 11th placed Burton Albion

Away from home we only play Ipswich from the top half

Can we do this, can we go up automatically

In my mind, 10 wins 5 draws & 2 defeats would be a more than fair return... giving 83pts.

It must be a more competitive season, because 83pts would not have got promotion in past years... in fact 83pts would have only scraped the play offs last year!

That's a fair point.
Rotherham would need 31 points from 15 games to hit 83 which fits with the 2 Pts per game ideal of promotion.

Think Wycombe will be the ones to fall short and not even get P/o’s.

If we’re serious about autos we need to be winning most of those. Beating Rovrum would be a statement.

No reason we can’t we got bullied by a bigger fitter team up there with some naff goals was it 2 penalties ?

Went through all the fixtures and didbt see.many i expect rotheram to lose

Pompey in hell of a run and ipswhich prob be bang in auto race too

Oxford sunderland hanhing in auto race too

Its going to be tough. Lets just take it 1 game at a time and hope some of our rivals fall away and it opens up for us even more

Us, Portsmouth and Rotherham for the top 3 spots. A lot depends on injuries and suspensions which will happen.

Pompey supporters looked forward to their game yesterday. The only one they are worried about is the game against us.

I think 3 could pull clear.

Since mid December we have stayed more or less in the same place. But at one stage the club's around us had games in hand over us. Now we have games in hand over everyone but the teams below us. That is Portsmouth and they are on a good run. And Rotherham are alsi on a good run. All the rest keep dropping points.

Tough games, bloody tough for those teams as well. Be happy with 5 wins and not lose games v Rotherham and Pompey. Think we can win a few of those away games too, bring them on.

If we beat take 10/12 points from Pompey, Rotherham, Wycome and Sunderland then we can start believing we are good enough.

Worst part of this league is despite having done so well so far this season we're as far away from the autos as we are from upper mid-table. All it takes is one good or bad run of form to completely swing it one way or the other.

What have I said that isn't factual? We're 5 points off top and 6 points ahead of 9th. It's an incredibly tight league with very little breathing room. We all saw what happened in 15/16 when we were in an equally good position as we are now and things took a turn for the worse. A little breathing room would be nice.

looking over the last few years, everybody above 88 points has been promoted
take off 2 games, and that makes it effectively over 84 points

looks like top 6 in any order will be from
Rotherham
Portsmouth
City
Sunderland
Ipswich
Peterboro
Oxford

I think Rotherham will now pull away and from 15 games will get the 31 points needed

for the others to reach 84 points

Sunderland 16/39
Ipswich 15/36
Peterboro 14/35
Oxford 17/40

so using the above, forget the FA cup, the next 2 league games are massive, 6 points and we begin to open a bit of breathing space

What people seem to miss here is what we can do with our away games.
The 8 away games we have left include Southend, Rochdale, Lincoln, Accrington, Gillingham, Blackpool, and Wimbledon. All of these are winnable
When we beat Wycombe I thought it could have been one of those fluke results where everything we touched went in, then we followed it up with the win against Tranmere, well we should have hammered them shouldn't we? Then to win at Doncaster and Bristol Rovers, two pretty decent mid table teams (and to avoid defeat at Fleetwood) this really showed what we are capable of away.
We have sorted out our away form, and I think this is now key to our season, more so than the home games, which appear to be more difficult, some of which we may well lose.
Those 2 / 3 games in hand have the potential to make a massive difference.

And hesitate to say it in case the stayaways get offended, but we need support- Sunderland and Portsmouth in particular could turn it into a virtual home game for them.

The missing games from this list are Bolton & Shrewsbury.
There are at least 5 very winnable games at home there, and I believe at least 5 winnable away. Add a few draws and we should be thereabouts.

Absolutely. It's also important to remember though, that if we lose 2 or 3 of those difficult home games it's not necessarily the end of our season, there are more than enough winnable games left, even if we lose to some of our rivals for promotion.

So we need 36 points from a possible 51.
Way more than 2 point a game and looking at others they’ve got an even bigger task.

Gonna be less that 84 points I think

If everyone manages an average of 2 points a game

Rotherham 83
Wycombe 80
Peterboro 77
Ipswich 78
Us 82
Pompey 81
Sunderland 77
Oxford 78

So very tight

I'd rather we lose a couple of away games than home games. If we win the home games we stop our rivals from gaining points. All our home games are 6 pointers...we need to win them all. If we then lose a couple of away games, there's less of an impact.
