Don’t know if I’ve ever seen a player improve so much from one season to the next in a city shirt. That he is one of us only makes it better.

Maybe player of the season “so far” but we are only approx half way through and the games are going to come thick & fast. This season has got to be the closest that I can remember when it comes to individual players contributing to the success of the team - player of the season is wide open which is fantastic for the club.
For me any of the following could be voted player of the season if this continues - Shipley, Dabo, Kelly, Hyam, McCallum and of course Kastaneer!

Yes not on the pace at all; poor touch, blowing and still pulling out 50/50s.

League 1 is his level. We all know that. He's a very good midfielder at our level.

People said league 2 was his level but he's e en good in league 1 this season so don't write him off just yet but yeah, he didn't have a good game yesterday.

While I agree about his progression into league one, he has many good attributes but first touch is not one of them, and rarely do you see players without a very, very good first touch make it at championship level. I find it bewildering how he is capable of some great strikes etc but so often his first touch is so, so poor

Think people need to appreciate the role that Westbrooke and Shipley had to play yesterday. They were the ones running all the hard yards. They were never going to be technically better than Birminghams midfield, but they helped tire out a very fit and physical Birmingham side which is what allowed O'Hare to be so effective late on.

When he plays badly, he plays really badly. But he is quite a cultured player and I like him alot. Westbrooke is more frustrating at the moment. There were two occasions yessterday there were 50/50 duels to be won but he actually slowed down to make sure he didn't get there for the opportunity. Criminal

Shipleys scored 3 and has 2 assists in his last 6 league games, including scoring the winner last week.

He werent great yesterday but should still be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Don't think I'd agree with that. Walsh and Kelly who both played 90 were dealing with blues midfield with more energy and more tackles etc. Westbrooke often got himself in poor positions yesterday when we had the ball which led to the lack of fluency in the final third. A lot of that was down to Blues quality admittedly. I thought he especially could have done more. Although Shipley has to be more combative too.

Kelly & Walsh stay central pretty much Shipley & Westbrooke do a hell of a lot more running than the 2 holding midfielders for me

Kelly and Walsh have got to cover the wing backs too. Both also were more effective going forward, Kelly had a few efforts from the edge of the box.

Kelly or walsh drop yes but the actual covering of the full backs is often done by Shipley and Westbrooke, who apply the pressure along with the full back. As soon as shipley/Westbrooke are there Walsh and Kelly go central, which is where Walsh was excellent yesterday because if they got out of the double press on the wings, Walsh was often there to tackle and help us to counter.

Shipley and Westbrooke didn't have their most effective games in an attacking sense I agree. But if we had started the game how we finished it we would have lost.

Would we? Do you have the lottery numbers for this week as well?

He's having a good season, but still think there are 2 or 3 Infront of him for player of the season

he has improved considerably this season & has chipped in with a decent amount of goals already, both of which I wasn't expecting if im honest... if he could just learn how to tackle

Think Shipley needs a rest Possibly we have Allen & O’Hare to come in.

Yes and isn't it nice to have the choice and not affect the formation of the team compared to the last few seasons.

I was very close to the action yesterday and couldn’t believe how much Shipley was blowing in the first half. Can’t help but think he can’t more than one game a week through a season.

Everyone is allowed an off day every now and then - remember he earned on 3 points away at Doncaster last week - the lads a grafter and he chips in with great goals too!
He loves this club as a fan too so that’s good enough for me!

I struggle with Shipley. He has improved a lot this season for which he deserves credit

However, he still needs to work on his first touch, he shirks challenges and looks tired after 30 mins.

For all of these reasons, I think league 1 will always be his level.

Even if he does love the club...

This sums Shipley up perfectly
