Wasps Protest (1 Viewer)

Would anyone entertain the idea of a protest march from the site of Highfield Road to the Ricoh on Saturday the 9th May? This day in particular because they play Leicester so I suspect it will be on TV.

Peaceful march (obviously) no hassling Wasps fans just a march. Our season is finished by that point.

Thoughts?

Too far too walk really but there definitely should be a protest.

Leicester Tigers fans would probably join in, they hate Wasps too!

I'm all up for something at a Wasps game.
This is what Wasps DON'T want, and sadly, I believe the "Trust" know this and in line with their drive to work through civil meetings, or words to that effect as per their (through Neil) tweets last night.
They would not and have not ever entertained supporting this.
Many have commented about how Wasps don't like and aren't liking any negative press, which sadly out "trust" and local paper are helping to support.

Feel that something needs to happen sooner than May.
Wasps are struggling on the pitch, that may change now their league is just a friendly procession with no relegation.
There is a bit of momentum with Pete's work and the Henley guys work too.
Pretty sure the Henley guy would help out with this too as their residents seem mighty pissed at Wasps too.

SO, the sooner the better.

Yes, I'm in! (Went to last one at JH statue and met a few from here... and upset the Mrs as we were supposed to be eating out as the folks had the kids!)

Don't expect any support from the "Trust" or the Telegraph.

Possibly join up with Russ(?) the Henley guy!??

Maybe get Pete on the case regarding drumming up support.

LOVE THE IDEA!!!

I did think the 7th March game could be done. We're at Ipswich that day though.

Finding a game on a weekend day when we aren't playing was proving a pain...

Fair point on the distance. What are we thinking for when?

Do we do it on an away game weekend or wait until our season has finished?

Protest by setting up roadblocks either side of the Ricoh with banners reading
"If CCFC cant play here, neither can London W@$p$!"
I do feel for the genuine w**ps fans. You know, the ones that follow them loyally from London. But I do think the best way to make w**ps and Eastwood take notice, is to hit them hard. 50 people stood outside with banners will most likely go unnoticed by anyone at the top. However, 200 people, each handcuffed to a turnstile at the ricoh stopping anyone entering. Nobody in the ground for kick off, nobody buying food and beer. Yes, it would piss the 'fans' off, but I've been pissed off about St.Andrews ALL season, one game isn't going to hurt them. And tbf, against Leicester, they'll be more Tigers fans their than actual w**ps fans anyway so fuck em. Lock em out of OUR stadium like they have to us!

= kicks off, arrests and name dragged through the mud. Understand the sentiment of disrupting entrance but it's not feasible.

Sitting in the ground a far better option. Do you reckon fans could be trusted not to start mither with Wasps fans?

many people, myself included, simply wouldn't enter the ground for a wasps game no matter what the circumstances.

Yeah bit of a tough one this. Understand the sentiments around the idea and your thoughts around not going into a Wasps game.

I think if the tickets were free - and seemingly they give them out like confetti, maybe we could leave after 20 minutes or so...20 referencing the distance from the Ricoh to St Andrews - or whatever it is. That way, we do the protest but then don't have to endure a whole match of rugby. We could have a SBTa end of season party (just blokes & lasses drinking in a pub somewhere) afterwards.

Even I'd make my way up from the South Coast for that (dates permitting).

Totally disagree with Pastys thoughts...sorry Pasty. I just think that would be antagonistic which is something we 100% want to avoid. We need to be squeaky clean in our approach...it will our efforts in the long run. Well, more than be antagonistic would anyway.

Perfect date really. Suspect some Leicester fans may join in. Allows plenty of time to be organised. I imagine at that point there will be lots of discussions about where we’re playing next year.

I wouldn’t want to go in to the game but I appreciate that the walk might be a bit too long!

There is something in that. I've said before that marches don't actually achieve anything. We should be parking our cars all around the locality for a specific game and preventing wasps fans from actually parking their cars for free. There is no confrontation, minimal effort and providing enough people would do it , it's hugely effective.
2,000 cars parked at 1.30pm and then driven away at 3.00pm kick off time would mean the same number of wasps cars would be forced to pay to park.

If we want bad PR for wasps, Can't we just send a shed load of Wasps tops to ISIS for their promo videos?

In all honesty its a good idea, protesting in the ground will be the best option as standing outside shouting will achieve fuck all
Demonstating outside or inside is only useful if it deters the casual rugby fan to go Does anyone know how much wasps rely on gate revenue to survive ? If it's significant (and i think they say its not the be all ) then that's where we should be hitting them. Make it difficult for wasps fans to actually get to the Ricoh and park.
