you are not wrong. The agenda here is unclear apart from I assume it’s a couple of bitter blokes who are feeling a bit silly that their “taxi for Robins” trolling has been shown to be extravagantly misguided and aren’t willing to agree that he’s doing a superb job in very trying circumstances- without uttering one word of complaint or offering a single excuse.

The agenda is exactly that. It’s not really underlying either it’s quite overt.

Those who got too heavy handed and emotional in the Taxi For Robins & Listen To Me, Hear Me Out threads - looking to say “yeah but ..” for everything good MR has done and built to this point.

I think it’s right and inevitable on a fans forum that the manger is questioned.
The overtly negative hyperbole of particular threads though, is not helpful or interesting in any way, to me at least.

I would definitely not go as far to say these people will be wanting us or willing us to go on a bad run of form but I do think there would be some sort of warped consolation for them to say “I told you so” .. which is very odd in itself when you are a supporter.

I have not said Robins isn’t the best man for the job atm?

What I have said is that clearly regardless of how the above wants to phrase it he has had money to spend and that 8th in the Championship is a better achievement than 6th in League 2 - I don’t think anyone can disagree with these points

I'd certainly disagree with that. Obviously finishing anywhere in the Championship is higher than we have for a decade now but unless the goal that season was to crack the top 8 nothing was actually achieved, whereas 6th in League 2 secured a playoff spot and promotion, which was the aim for that season. One's a success, the other our nearest miss to date.

About a month ago one of them said we wont finish in top 8 and was willing to put money it.

I replied that i already have money on a promotion and automatic long shot.

No it was in reference to your top 3 predictions

What a difference 3 years makes. The top table was 3 years ago today. The bottom is today.

Nice.

I'd forgotten about it to be honest and then it popped up on my FB memories today.

I had quoted that first image I had put on FB with 'Woeful. No drive. No ambition. No plan. No guts. No spine. We'll be a non-league club in just over a year'.

Glad that I was wrong...

Remember feeling that way too.

This thread, in summary:

Poster 1:
"Positive sentiment re: Mark Robins and his actual, current performance. I think he's one of the best managers we've had"

Poster 2:
"Your opinion is wrong based on comparisons with managers that were generally awful here and at other clubs"

Poster 1:
"OK. Which managers do you think performed better than Mark Robins?"

Poster 2:
"Robins spent money. Pressley didn't."

Poster 1:
"OK, but which managers do you think performed better than Mark Robins?

Poster 2:
"Mickey Adams finished 8th, once!"

Repeat for far too many pages. Very funnny to watch how much convoluted sh*te folks can come up with to avoid having the balls to either offer their own opinion or admit they're wrong!

You’re not wrong.

the best was Grendel saying that Sam Allardyce has a better record and on that basis Mark Robins is not actually doing as good a job at Cov as the board, the fanbase (and the league table) thinks he is.

Yet remember it more fondly than others simply because of checkatrade trophy win
That’s cause we were finishing off the season with a renewed sense of optimism and had some hope, it was the day we realised we may just have already reached the very bottom and from now on things might just get better.

They did indeed get better- and that’s all down to Micky Adams.

No I said that you equated managerial success to trophies won and promotions so managers like Allardyce are by your definition worse than Robins

Out of curiosity if Sam allardyce said tomorrow he would manage Coventry for the same wage as Robins... Would you take him right now over Robins... And if not why not

I would, but then I'm a sucker for a man that drinks pints of wine.
