Would normally have tried to get to this one but couldn't get out of work today
Frustrating not having updates

Hiwula may go but I don’t see anyone taking Kastaneer on unless his agent can con someone into thinking he’s a “bit of a coup” weather they fall for it like we did or not is another thing.

I think a few clubs will be interested in Hiwula and we should get a decent fee given he's scored 10+ goals in the past 3 seasons consecutively (again begs the question why are we letting him go).

No one in their right mind is going to take Kastaneer - even on loan.

Be lucky to get 250k for hiwula that would be very good business isn’t he out of contract in the summer ?

I think he'd warrant that - especially given that players hold a higher value in the January window as it's a sellers market. Yeah he's out of contract but Robins indicated he had a one-year extension.

Anyone else think Hiwula is in our top 3 earners? Surely if hes not in Robins plans he'll be trying to ship him out

So all 3 subs have been made and Wakefield was preferred to Kastaneer. It seems as if Robins/the club are saying if you want to waste my time I’ll waste a bit of yours

Transfers don't work out, I can accept that - even if a club spent upwards of £50M on a player there's no guarantees. But from Badlan's perspective I'd just love to know what the attraction was with Kastaneer. He claimed to have followed him for years too so I just can't get my head around it.

The point was that we should include his 3 goals against Southampton youth team

But include them for what? In terms of whether it indicates he is playing well is all that matters, surely? Bit daft not to take into account a hat trick. If Kastaneer had scored a hat trick against them, we would all have been saying 'he's got something about him', wouldn't we?

From what I read he was wanted by Huddersfield a few years ago and he hoped he could fulfil his potential here. However, most of the time this isn’t how football works.

I can understand an U23 signing based on that logic where there’s little risk like Pask but to get one of your supposed key players on it is bizarre

If he was signed for the U23's I don't think anyone would've battered an eyelid. As for every Bouwe Bosma you'll get a Sam McCallum. But he literally came out and said he's Championship quality - which frankly just raises serious question marks over his processes for scouting overseas players.

Kastaneer is only 23
Probably seen as worth a punt when he signed
Don't know details of his contract but wouldn't be surprised if his agent brought him here in the hope that he'd make a big impression and clubs higher up the pyramid would come in
After a good start it's unfortunately not worked out for him
By all accounts he's a decent lad but seems to lack a 'football brain'

From what I have seen of Kastaneer he looks like a player who if he wanted to could be unplayable. He has raw power, quick feet and a good shot. It seems to be attitude/Fitness. Maybe he hasn't settled moving countries or doesn't like England in general. Badlan I guess took a punt knowing what he could do in the hoping Robins could get it out of him. He still might.

All fair points but IMO that just goes to show Badlan didn't scout him thoroughly enough.

I see your point, but you get players signed for £30/30/50m and turn out to be complete disasters, nowhere near the level required.

Sometimes it is bad scouting, sometimes it just happens for no obvious reason. Maybe the player had a freak purple patch once in his career.

There is obviously a good player in Kastaneer, we just haven't seen it yet (apart from that brilliant goal), and maybe we never will.

It seems as if Robins has.

Putting him in the 23s today and not even giving him any minutes is a sign of a manager trying to piss a player off and force them out

Or it's simply a sign of a manager just not picking him for this game. As bad as that reflects on the player, it doesn't necessarily mean the manager is trying to 'piss him off'.

Out of Interest, why did they stop calling them reserves and change it to u23s? Anyone know?

It would indicate he’s not part of the first team picture - even Wakefield who I can’t remember playing a minute for us this season gets on ahead of him

Oh I agree on that. I'm just saying that I don't think that necessarily means Robins is intentionally trying to piss Kasta off, it just means he doesn't think hes good enough (now/yet), which is a different thing.
