Blues still have 750-800 tickets to shift in the Main Stand. Their allocation equates roughly to their number if season ticket holders.
30'006 when the Gil Merrick was completed in 1998 but since reduced to 29'500. There were some ridiculously restricted view seats in the mid 1990's in the Kop including three rows of seats right beside the executive boxes that afforded a view of just one penalty box at the Tilton end. Other ground improvements included a widening of the concourses at the Tilton End (hemmed in from behind by a pallets warehouse) and improved/increased disabled facilities. On top of this, since the League Cup Quarter final vs Villa in 2011 the front two rows of the Tilton have had to be netted off

The Kop and Tilton together hold 16K. But, 3 blocks between Kop and away fans are closed, plus half the Tilton is closed, plus the front row, therefore max is 10.5K.

I appreciate the sentiments. Never always been entirely easy for me to travel to away games by myself but I used to do about 8-10 games a year. A turning point for me was at the New Lawn last year, when the racist behaviour was simply disgraceful and shameful. This was followed later in the year by similar, in cases, worse behaviour at Plymouth. I left the ground after 70 mins as the stewards were very strict in where you sat/stood (away allocation sell out) - and I haven't felt inclined to go away again. It does mean that you then start to get engaged with other things/hobbies (car's looking clean and the garden's looking good!), but I'm pretty sure I haven't been to my last away game. And after all, we're at Wembley again this year, either play off or FA cup...

Great thing that it looks like being a 'sell out' - just a shame they feel the need to reduce the capacity quite so much - could have been a few £££s more. Safety first, though, I suppose.
The statement didn't have any of that iirc. It simply gave the Blues allocation and specified which stands would be available to each club. The CCFC statement said:
Coventry City fans will be in the Kop Stand as usual, selling into the Tilton Road Stand if required.
It didn't mention stopping half way. It's done now, but perhaps they should have made it clearer a day or so ago.

There are always some that will blame the club for not being able to get a ticket to watch the team that a few weeks ago they were never going to watch in Birmingham but for some reason now it's different

You'd have to ask those experts at what makes for an atmospheric stadium- Gold, Sullivan & Brady. The Gil Merrick is one of worst new stands of all.

There's really not that much room in the corner for all the upper tier seats, its not a huge gap. Plus I think its used for emergency vehicle access.
There is an opportunity to get tickets tonight, although perhaps they should be released at 9am tomorrow rather than midnight.
Some people will miss out, and I guess there will be some frustration from fans of both clubs about all the seats that will be unsold. Why, for example, can Blues not be given all of lower tier, those are seats usually available e to away fans, so it can't be an issue with segregation. A bit odd really.

I know, it's something to whinge about isn't it?
We have some utter tools for fans. Basic common sense goes out of the window.
The under 20s seem to be the main ones who ask stupid questions or seem to have some sort of background in policing football matches.
As much as this will likely pass with no incidents...it's still a high profile game as far as the police are concerned.

Also saw one person harrass the twitter admin about 'how many sold', replying to a tweet with a link to an article that tells you exactly that.
Was built in 1998. At the time Railtrack turned down proposal to build a stand that overhung the railway line or put the rail line through a tunnel so Blues had to have a design which shortened the pitch length (St Andrews used to be amongst the biggest pitches along with Highfield Road) and built upwards more steeply than the Kop and Tilton. The reason the Main Stand wasn't replaced in the 1990's / early 2000's was do with the listed status of the circa 1890's flats behind them and the issue of natural light but when it eventually is replaced it is likely to be a copy of the Kop (perhaps with more executive seating) which ought to take capacity of St Andrews up by 5000 to 34'000
Never been a big fan of the Gil Merrick Stand. Added 4000 seats to the capacity and executive box facilities compared with the old Railway End but done fairly cheaply in comparison with the Kop and Tilton which was built 5 years earlier with the help of Football Trust money. Sully and Brady made a fortune out of Blues and hardly spent a penny. Good business acumen I grant them. A lot of our fans long for them back but only because what's followed since has been ten times worse.
