From their match thread ......

Amazing that Coventry aren't running away with this league. They are the best side we've played this season by an absolute mile

How have Coventry not won away, their number 26 was a man possessed, and the wing backs were excellent.

Men against boys..... Coventry showing how simple it is to play football on the ground

Coventry played some beautiful football

I think Peterborough and Coventry will be up top

Let’s all laugh at Preston taking the wrong player,if bayliss is worth £2m we want at least 4 for shippers ;)

So many sides said we're the best they've played. Can't all be wrong :)

Yet we're only in the mix with lots of other teams and behind the team we beat today who everyone is saying are crap.

Not trying to be negative, just pointing out our current position. Surely someone has to put a run together and emerge from the pack, fingers crossed it's us. We got a big monkey off of our back today, let's use it as a spring board to push on.
Tranmere won't be easy, haven't got a great record against them and they're unbeaten in 4 at home. It's definitely winnable as are the following 2 fixtures. Time to get consistent.

You may be saying it as a joke but said it at the time Bayliss left that I thought Shipley was a better player. I remember me and the owl man were ridiculed for it.

Well it depends really. Generally the better the player or the stronger their main attributes the more money they go for. How much do you think Shipley is worth?

My mate was graceful in defeat as we've had workplace banter for the last few months. He said we were the best team they've played this season and shown me a tweet from Chairboys Central saying the same thing.

If we can keep Gooden on form, I believe we can make a real push at automatic promotion in this second half as it's been pretty obvious that for most of his injury we just needed a striker to take us to that next level.

Hopefully, the board give Robins some extra funding to give us the best chance of automatic promotion.

And those in charge of recruitment will be looking at a lot more than goals and assists and the stats available to fans.

Bayliss would have flagged up pretty highly in some areas you would imagine

But in 2015, Steve Walsh, a legendary scout and then the assistant manager for Leicester City in England’s Premier League, asked the club’s analytics squad to scour the metrics of all the top European leagues. Specifically, The Independent reported, he wanted see players’ interceptions, tackles, and forward passes per 90 minutes. The analytics group also looked at other statistics that were relevant to Leicester’s style of play. “Kanté’s name just kept cropping up,” The Independent said.

I thought Shipley was underrated too. But, I'd still maintain Bayliss is the better player and think Bayliss would've developed nicely under MR this season - but, it's irrelevant now. MR knows how to nurture the talent we have, he had a plan for fringe players like Westbrook, Hyam and McCallum and his transfer policy in signing younger players has been vindicated.

Long may it continue.

Our system has changed since we last played Tranmere though so it's something new for them to approach. I think as long as we can contain Stefan Payne (their big, physical striker who was a nuisance last time out), and give their wingers a hard time, we'll be all over Tranmere. Here's hoping anyway!

Hope you all had a good Christmas by the way, and happy new year!

Godden will do that all day if we supply him not starve him left isolated it all seemed to come together today

The top 2 come May will be the two teams who have accumulated the most points - not the team who’s played the nicest football.

We played very well today but against a team who wants to sit back (Bolton, Tranmere, MK Dons) we need to figure a way out to beat them. This is where we’ve dropped points, against the better teams we’ve done well

It will be great if we prove them right. The away form is our Achilles heel. If we win 6 more away it will be a big improvement on the first half of the season.
I think we’ll finish on 81 pts

To be fair the points we've dropped that have hampered our season so far somewhat are away at places like Sunderland, Oxford, Peterborough... Those late goals alone mean we don't sit joint top today.

Teams will always lose games, but it's through our own inability to see a game out why we aren't top, rather than being outplayed or being a weaker side... That's a very good sign, get it right and we can go up no doubt, we are a bloody good side at this level

I like this comment the best btw ;)

"Coventry put in one of the finest all-round performances I've ever seen at AP. They were absolutely superb"

It is nice to be recognised by other sets of fans. Those of us that have seen a lot of games this season must have enjoyed the stuff we are playing, even if the end result hasn't always been what we wanted. Keep it up boys!

Against Bolton we missed lots of chances and had 3 goals disallowed at least one of which should have counted. Tranmere we totally dominated and missed loads of chances. MK we totally dominated, missed chances including a penalty. The way to beat them I would think is to play the same way but this time score while having a competent referee.

The problem with Shipley at times is concentration, he will do something great then give the ball away cheaply but he has definitely improved and putting in some great performances atm

Yes.
For me like I said few games ago.

Oxford and coventry head and shoulders above anything in this league football wise. Glad most fans generally agree with that
Plat and Wendell seem to to think mid table at best.
We should have taken 3 points from oxford but they are the best footballing side we have played... I agree

The other reason why people are willing to compliment our team when we win is that they are not dirty thugs as some we see !
