Has the emergence of Max solved our striker problem ? Also a fit again Matty Godden with Bakayoko and Hiwula backing up a fit again Jodie Jones it suddenly looks we are well covered up top so should Robins still pull in a striker in January or perhaps look elsewhere, another pacey wide man perhaps ?

I would go for a wide man personally if we're going to go with the formation we played yesterday.

Id like to see a loan come in, one that I think may be a possibility is Jayden Stockley on loan from Preston, he's not really scored goals in League one yet and it would seem the Championship is a bit of a step up for him at the moment, 1 goal in a handful of starts and a few sub appearances this season. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get 6 months in League one to help bridge the gap between his move from L2 to Champs

I think the strength in our squad is our attacking full backs though which means you don't really need traditional wingers who hug the touchline, Shipley, Ohare, Westbroke etc playing as a sort of inside winger allows the likes of McAllum and Dabo to get forward providing more width.

yeah my initial thought was we dont play wide men like start of season withjobello and hiwulla as inside fwds so wide signing may be a waste

we have kastaneer, jones, bapaga and wakefeild on books if need be

And all of them are not good enough “yet” bar jones whom himself is just back from a double ACL

Dunno if he's solved the problem entirely but he's certainly solved a few of the variables within it. I'm looking forward to seeing him with Godden at some point to see if it adds another string to the bow. He linked well with Shipley last night so should mean we've got a few different tactical options at our disposal.

Stockley's wages = not us.
If Godden comes through ok and Max carries on, I can't see a striker coming in. other than perhaps a nippy loanee.

I’d be very surprised if a striker comes in. A wide player is the more pressing issue

Why? We've got a few systems and none of them have 'proper' wide players. If we're still not putting chances away by Jan he will be looking (once again) for a striker but think we'd need to get rid of one or two first, even for a loanee.

He spent money on Godden in the summer. He was Max playing well with Bakayoko in support. Why would he go for a 4th striker? Did you go on Tuesday? What position would you suggest O’Hare and Shipley were playing? What position would you suggest Baka and O’Hare played last Saturday? We need a wide man to allow us to continue to play these systems. The only system we have played without widemen was the 3-5-2. It would be a gamble to stick with that with little option for a plan B post January.

I would say they were playing inside forward. Look at the players we've been playing in those positions in that formation - only Jobello is what you would refer to as a 'winger' and he looked underwhelming and many felt left the striker isolated by playing too wide. MR criticised Biamou for playing too wide in that formation. IMO that formation suits players who are happiest playing more centrally but can push a bit wider if necessary.
