I dunno. Probably, it fits his character and he’s been avoiding it which is usually a fair indicator of guilt. I think he’s done far worse though and it’s just one straw on the camels back so not too bothered either way.

Obviously someone suggesting King Boris is anything but the greatest man who ever lived upsets you though. And for that I enjoy it

While I’d love to believe that tactical voting will somehow stop a Tory majority, it’s looking increasingly like instead the Lib Dem’s are going to let the Tories through all over the place.

We are at the 5 points off the playoffs with two games to go “we can still make it” stage I’m afraid.

More worrying is I’m already seeing the vultures circling on the right of Labour, rubbing their hands with glee at the idea of getting rid of Corbyn. Leaving us with three right wing parties to vote for. Where next for the left?

I think that turnout for this election is again being seriously underplayed. Voter registrations again could be crucial - supposedly in excess of 1.5 million new voters since election called, and still 8 days to go.

Privately educated Oxford Graduate... Labour would lose all their voters (especially some of you chaps on SBT) wouldn't they? And his changing position on Brexit (there may be other issues I don't know about) would not leave you convinced to vote for him either I guess... we just cannot be sure what his position will be next week on Brexit.
But as he is a Labour Toff instead of a Tory Toff, even doing all the same old shit, I suppose it doesn't matter eh?

Starmer is a blank slate. He’s been cagey with his politics so everyone assumes they share it.

I like him, he’s served under Corbyn so could possibly be open to left wing policies. But just as easily could be captured by the geniuses behind trying to make Miliband “tuss enough”.

You misunderstand the lefts issues with the likes of Johnson and Mogg, it’s a born to rule attitude and politics that perpetuate it, not the fact they went to private school or Oxbridge. The fact they lived a sheltered life is just more grist to the mill, Starmer for example has spent his life working in criminal justice fighting for human rights, Corbyn has been a life long anti racism and anti war campaigner, Johnson and Mogg are most famous for burning £50 notes in front of poor people and pretending it’s the 1800s before entering politics.

I don't care about the individual's education but the policies they support and any skeletons in the closet that could be used against him. He has been in Corbyn's shadow cabinet long enough to suggest he is on side with progressive policy positions and his personal record is pretty untainted. We could delve into Johnson's essays for and against Brexit before he decided which would get him the keys to No.10, if you like...

You have some right crackpot ideas that won't work. Some of them a are the ideas mentioned by Labour like finishing off private schools saying that it would benefit state schools yet can't come out with a single truthful reason why.

Don't you mean you don't mind about a persons private education if they are Labour, but if they are a Tory it is a very good reason to have a go at them?

I said about Starmer for Labour leader a few years ago and got shot down saying all kinds of crap. Now reality is hitting home it is a different matter. How unusual.

Where's this privately educated coming from? He passed his 11+ and went to a grammar school that was state funded when he went there. Are we talking before 11?

I've checked and can't find his primary school, but his siblings all bogged off to the local comp.

He was privately educated up to 11. So in other words either he is against anyone having the same start in life as he had or McDonnell is pulling the strings again.

Yes...I stand corrected on the Privately Educated bit...but attending a Grammar School leaves a similarly bad taste for most of the same crowd that despise the privately educated. They're all for abolishing those too

It is OK for anyone to go there or any other elite university. Blair went to Fettes College. Brown went to Kirkcaldy High School and then got into Edinburgh at 16. Both did good things as politicians, both also did things they wish they hadn’t.
