Have to say I’ve been impressed with Zain the past month or so,seems to now be imposing himself in games demanding the ball.Dabo & Westbrooke yesterday were a constant threat down our right,it’s like now Zain actually feels he’s officially part of the side...anyone know his stats so far goals and assists ? Offers decent quality on the ball & is constantly looking to run past the defensive line from midfield.

Correction: It's Zainbrooke. Just to make sure everyone knows who you are talking about.

If our forwards could score, he would have had another yesterday and plenty more prior to that.

He has already bettered the goal involvement of Bayliss last season and hasn't even played half the games he did.

'Bettered.' Too much time listening to Benno's pissed up musings on the radio pusb!

And technically these days Bayliss can only be referred to by his official full name. 10 Bags Bayliss.

Think he's done well over the last month and he looks like he feels he belongs out there now, which I didn't think he did when he first broke into the team last year - thought he played within himself then and was scared to make a mistake. He played very well yesterday but I'd be annoyed if he didn't as he had the freedom of St Andrews yesterday, there was absolutely acres for that midfield to play in. Did think he could have moved the ball on a little quicker in the first 30 minutes of the match as a result, there was almost too much time but that's a relatively minor point from just one match. I hope he can replicate this level of form against the better, more physical teams when space is at a premium.

I do enjoy watching our U23s come into the team and continue to develop in and around the first team.

Think i'd prefer a straight swap as well. Then bring Baka on to go two up top if we need a goal.
If it means Baka drops out the side I would keep it as it is with max in for Baka who can play that role better linking the play etc

Max does it better Pete links the play a lot better for me

Baka looks much better playing in a 2 vs. the single striker role. The Max/Baka partnership was showing some promise. I would prefer 2 up front in a 3-5-2 to be honest vs. the formation we played Saturday. Max/Godden probably first choice in the 2 with Baka off the bench. I would also like to see O'Hare used in a free attacking midfielder/number 10 role.

Westbrookes pass to Shipley for his goal was as good a pass you’d see at any level and he’s done passes like that before. He’s turning into a real good player just hope we can keep him

I saw Westbrooke play for the U21s last year v Burnley at the Ricoh
From memory we went 2 0 down. Then Westbrooke ran the game as play-maker in an advanced central role for Cov to dominate and win, I think by 3 - 2
You could see then he was a player but I guess it's taken him time to get the confidence to do the same in the first team

Whenever he played last year in the first team, he looked completely anonymous as far as I was concerned. Now that could easily have been he needed a few games to get used to the pace, or he just needed to adapt or develop a bit but... am certainly glad he's improving.

It's what, like it or not, we have to be able to do - sell a player, and have a replacement waiting in the wings.

And the replacement for Bayliss has been pretty seamless to be fair...whether it's him, O'Hare or even Walsh...we've not been having regular meltdowns on here saying 'we knew it was a mistake to sell Bayliss with no replacement'...

Westbrooke is getting better every game, he looks like a bargain buy.
Shipley is also having a great season, the pair have been responsible for us not missing Allen and Jones.
When everyone is fit we will have a great squad.

Wtf!!! You would bring Bakayoko on if we need a goal???? Really ???

Anyone worried regarding his contract finishing end of this season with form he’s shown this season so far ?

I’ll admit it looks like I was wrong on this one. He has impressed me for the last month or so, took his time to find his feet but he’s one of the first names on the team sheet now. Will be interesting to see him and Allen battle it out for that position.

Played well today, felt like he ran himself into the ground and Robins should have replaced him a good 10/15 minutes earlier

Yeah both him and Shipley are asked to cover a lot of ground but neither has got much more than 60-70 minutes in them, hence we dropped off a fair bit. Difficult really but Allen will increasingly be an option / we may revert to two strikers which means they'll be a little more reserved.

That's why I thought it'd have made more sense for O'Hare and Hiwula to have replaced Zain and Shipley rather than Hiwula. Gives them that bit more space to run with the ball but crucially would've had Baka there helping them get hold of it in the first place. Whatever they may have added in the final stages of that game were nullified by the fact they just couldn't win the ball to begin with.
