Even when McCallum came into the team last year and had a few rabbit in the headlight moments it was clear he had potential. Plus, he has the physical attributes which further enhance his ability.

However, if big clubs weren’t rumoured to be interested would we be having this debate? Mason was in better form than McCallum pre injury but we didn’t have the same conversations about him. As it stands Mason is the better full back on my eyes, despite his stature he has the ability to get under players and he reads the game well.

For me, McCallum needs to cut out the odd sloppy mistake (normally around his first touch as he is already thinking of his next move) and improve his crossing (rather than the floating ones he likes). I’m confident he will do both and continue to progress into a brilliant player.

We’re lucky to have two good, young and competitive right backs, both with bags of potential and pushing each other.

I don’t think McCallum is in the shop window, I think he saw his chance and hasn’t dropped the ball since. It’s good to see his confidence improving game by game, it’s a shame we can’t fit them both in the team!

bayliss looked one of our only creative players last year and was harshly judged

how has mcallum done in league 1?
Bayliss was shite last season at this level mate struggled playing central midfield his preferred position.

McCallum is keeping most peoples early player of the season out of the side

what for like 3 or 4 games? mason was number 1 left back at star tof season btw

bayliss wasnt shit, just frustrated fans blamed him for going past 3 player sbut not a 4th whilst praising those that didnt try to make the difference

we going around n circles, i like mcallum, hope he continues to improve

Calling him shite is a little harsh!

“Potential” is what made them move for him their second ? Has he played ?

No his 70 games for Cov is what made them buy him. Preston are not the club, as shown by £2m being their highest transfer fee, to sign players purely on ‘potential’ at that amount

They signed Callum Robinson and Jordan Hugill for £50k and sold them for a combined £17m and they’ve also built a squad second in the Championship for relative pennies in comparison to their rivals. Bayliss has obviously ticked a lot of boxes for them

I'm pleased for McCallum but can't help feeling a bit sorry for Brandon. He was a consistent strong performer, but had a little knock now MR prefers SM. If he gets sold we could lose Brandon too, fed up of no games, in the same wsy we did with Grimmer then scratching around for a left back. In fact I'd say before he was out, he was my player of the season so far.

Isn’t that perfect? Both pushing one another to improve

And he’s 22
Grimmer was 22.SM is clearly the blue eyed boy, BM is the ginger step-son. Robins has his favourites and you don't get frozen out for a season then just pick up where you left off.
