Just poking fun. Years old meme on here that fans only call black players lazy.

I genuinely don’t get why Godden gets the response he does in comparison to the rest though. I don’t think he’s done much to suggest he’s a 20 a season striker and his awareness is terrible. I think we’ve got four decent L1 strikers who will all blow hot and cold but all are good for 15ish goals a season.

no you were not poking fun - you’ve seen the backlash and are bidding a hasty retreat

Can you not see Godden Is all round a better centre forward than Baka ?

Godden might get that many in the right formation. He's had some good returns in previous season's.

With the lazy thing, being offside as Godden has been could be considered lazy. Look across the line and step up.

So your basically saying Baka & Hiwula get Stick because of their skin colour ?

Sorry mate but that’s a total nonsense comment your pretty much calling this forum racist
Basically??? Did you even read my post?

Said they deserve criticism so not only reason they get stick at all. But i do believe lazy tag is too easily applied to black players in my experience yes.

Yes i re-read it after and deleted the post mate, apologies there mate I agree with the post lol
No problem. Tough subject for sure

Sticking to on field a 352 requires verybhsrd working pressing strikers so we will find out for sure over coming montjs if lazy or not

Sat was a good effort from baka and max so hopefully it continues

Off the top of my head: Stern John, Bothroyd, Best, Salako, were all called lazy. Can’t think of a white player who had the same criticism. There may have been some, but usually it’s just “they’re shit”.

I think he’s a better all round footballer. I think Baka has better raw attributes (strength and pace) and is five years younger. At his age Godden was playing for the likes of Dartford and Tamworth because he couldn’t score for Scunthorpe. I’m yet to be convinced he’s the all star 20-a-season striker he’s made out to be. As I say I think he’s likely to get 15ish over a full season, maybe a couple more, maybe a couple less.

But I think that about Baka and Hiwula as well and have been saying so since before we signed Godden.

To be fair, most of the games I’ve seen Godden play (not all of them by far) he’s been isolated and lacking service. But the chances that have fallen to him haven’t been taken like I’d expect a player who scores that many would.

Prime example being Kevin Kyle! Now, he actually was shit, but he was also lazy!

I remember Salako came on once then Strachan took him off again when he just would not take his man on

I liked John and Best 2bh. But Hughes, Beuzelin, Kyle McIndoe were 4 players off the top of my head called lazy.

I will say this about John, Best Hughes, Beuzeliny - they were players who had the intelligence to be in the right place at the right time. No need for them to run round like headless chickens.

I hated this about Coventry fans - effort over ability. Doyle got away with this for far to long,

Of course fans are going to favour effort! I’m sure if Doyle could’ve made himself technically brilliant he would’ve but what he could do is give everything. Surely that is commendable? If his efforts still make him shit that’s on the manager.

That’s even more so the frustration of a talented, ‘lazy’ player; any fully fit pro footballer should be able to apply themselves for a significant portion of a match

I would rather have a striker who is fresh when he gets the ball in the box than one who is knackered because he has been closing players down leave that to the Doyle’s of this world

I’d rather players with ability. Like I said, Hughes was a far better player than Doyle. He’d be in position at the right time.

doyle and players of his ilk are always playing catch up and therefore have to run around a lot just keep up with play

I agree all lazy i called into Rob Gurney or whoever was hosting after the match once to moan about Salako giving one performance every so often but at no point did it enter my mind it was because of his skin colour
